Requirements
  • BS, MS, or PhD in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Physics, Computer Science, or another related field
  • 5+ years of industry experience in systems/software/hardware engineering, robotics, or other related disciplines
  • Knowledge of systems engineering principles including ConOps and requirements development, root cause analysis, and top down thinking
  • Familiarity with FMEA, fault trees, and/or hazard analysis
  • Ability to analyze system designs, determine tradeoffs, and optimize solutions
  • Self motivated and a strong communicator who can proactively bring cross-functional teams together to get alignment. Solid presentation, written, and documentation skills
Responsibilities
  • Formulate warning & degradation strategies for AV malfunctions, and concepts of operations for mission operations during off-nominal events
  • Collaborate with architecture, safety, and engineering) teams on the design, implementation and integration of solutions
  • Work with product managers to define roadmaps
  • Define requirements and expected behaviors or system responses against system faults
  • Develop verification plans, identify test methods, and review test results, in partnership with simulation and systems test teams
  • Support fleet operations and continuous improvement/continuous development efforts to monitor and track AV system faults, performance and reactions or resolutions
Desired Qualifications
  • Demonstrated experience architecting or designing complex and safety/time-critical products, or data analysis
  • Domain knowledge in autonomy, robotics, risk/safety assessments (FMEAs)
  • Familiarity with automotive safety (or similar regulated industry experience), vehicle health & diagnostics, and requirements management tools (DOORS, Jama)
