NVIDIA designs and manufactures graphics processing units (GPUs) and computing platforms used for gaming, data centers, and artificial intelligence. These products work by using parallel processing to handle complex mathematical calculations much faster than standard computer processors, supported by a software ecosystem that allows developers to build and run AI models. Unlike competitors that may focus solely on hardware, NVIDIA integrates its chips with specialized software and cloud services to create a complete environment for high-performance tasks. The company’s goal is to provide the underlying technology necessary to power advanced computing, from realistic video game graphics to autonomous vehicles and large-scale data analysis.

What believers are saying

  • Reuters reported only very few H200 chips shipped to China, preserving optionality.
  • NVIDIA's August 2026 financing platforms mobilize outside capital for customers buying its hardware.
  • Poolside and Cloverleaf investments deepen software and power access for future datacenter demand.

What critics are saying

  • U.S. export controls blocked Blackwell shipments to China, shrinking a major demand pool.
  • France's competition authority nears ending its antitrust probe, risking fines and remedies.
  • Circular-financing backlash around $500 billion platforms and Poolside licensing could trigger scrutiny by 2027.

What makes NVIDIA unique

  • NVIDIA controls the AI stack, from Blackwell chips to CUDA software and networking.
  • August 10, 2026 financing partnerships with Apollo, BlackRock, Blackstone, Brookfield, Goldman Sachs, and KKR broaden distribution.
  • Poolside's Model Factory deal embeds NVIDIA inside model-building workflows, not just accelerators.

Treasury to launch 'economic D-Day' against Iran as US-Canada tariffs hit 50%

The Trump administration unveiled an "economic D-Day" campaign against Iran, with Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent threatening to cut off any country or entity doing business with Iran from the US dollar system. Meanwhile, US-Canada trade tensions escalated as President Trump vowed to double tariffs on Canadian autos, trucks, parts and steel to 50% by 1 January 2027, following failed negotiations. Both sides blamed each other for the breakdown. Wall Street closed lower, with the S&P 500 down 0.28% and the Nasdaq falling 0.76%. Investors are now focused on Nvidia's earnings due Wednesday, which could shape sentiment around AI stocks heading into autumn. Nvidia announced its first Groq 3 LPX computing racks will launch later this year following its $20 billion Groq acquisition.

Generalist raises $200M for AI robotics, valuing startup above $2B

Generalist has raised approximately $200 million in new funding for its AI robotics technology, just two months after securing $400 million. The round was led by 8VC with participation from existing investors. The startup develops AI models to help robots better understand and operate in the physical world, including improving dexterity. These "robot brains" could significantly impact blue-collar work. Founded by alumni from Google DeepMind and Boston Dynamics, Generalist focuses on building models rather than robotic hardware. The company's valuation now exceeds the $2 billion mark it reached in June. Existing backers include Nvidia, Bezos Expeditions, Radical Ventures, USV, Hanabi, Spark Capital, and Fei-Fei Li. The funding reflects strong investor appetite for companies developing robotics AI technology.

Nvidia lands SpaceXAI deal to power next-gen AI systems in orbit with Vera CPUs

Nvidia has announced that SpaceXAI will use its Vera CPUs to expand computing infrastructure for next-generation agentic applications. SpaceXAI, formerly xAI and now operating within SpaceX, plans to build additional capacity around Nvidia's Vera Rubin platform to support its Grok chatbot. The companies also intend to adapt the Vera Rubin NVL72 system for orbital computing through SpaceXAI's first-generation Starmind satellite. The partnership focuses on workloads where AI agents need to coordinate software tools, execute code, analyse information and run simulations between model interactions. SpaceXAI expects its infrastructure footprint to grow towards gigawatt-scale capacity. Nvidia said the common Vera Rubin architecture could allow the computing system to extend beyond conventional data centres and support future operations in space.

Nvidia shares dip despite SpaceXAI deal; analysts flag 5 catalysts ahead of Q2 earnings

Nvidia shares fell over 2% on Monday despite remaining bullish sentiment from analysts ahead of the company's second-quarter earnings report on Wednesday. Wall Street expects Nvidia to report $2.07 in adjusted earnings per share on $92.03 billion in revenue. The chip maker announced that SpaceXAI will deploy its Vera CPUs to accelerate next-generation AI applications, marking the first integration of Nvidia's AI-specific CPU. SpaceXAI also plans to expand AI infrastructure supporting Grok using Nvidia's Vera Rubin platform. Nvidia confirmed its Vera Rubin rack-scale system is now in full production, delivering 3,400 output tokens per second in benchmarks. The system provides 30 times higher throughput per megawatt and 35 times lower token costs than the previous generation. Cantor Fitzgerald maintained an 'Overweight' rating with a $350 price target, citing five potential catalysts including stronger 2027 data-centre visibility.
