Requirements
  • Ability to review and assess a high volume of online applications, exercise discretion and independent judgment on significant matters, manage time effectively, and work both independently and as part of a team.
  • Excellent analytical, administrative, planning, organizational, and project management skills, along with creative self-direction, public presentation ability, and strong writing, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work with a diverse constituency, including current medical students, faculty, alumni, admissions staff, pre-medical counselors, and other student affairs staff.
  • Well-developed computer skills, database management skills, and ability to adapt to new software programs.
  • Knowledge of the application and review process for a highly selective academic program.
  • Bachelor's Degree in a related field and two years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Responsibilities
  • Evaluate admissions applications, interview prospective applicants, and independently assess each application against factors including applicant strengths, weaknesses, and potential contribution to the Yale community.
  • Determine applicants' standing within local, national, and international applicant pools.
  • Present applicant recommendations to the admissions committee and brief the committee about applicants, schools, and geographical regions as they relate to applicant-file evaluation.
  • Determine which applicants will be waitlisted.
  • Develop public presentations designed to promote Yale to prospective applicants.
  • Advise secondary school counselors, applicants, and parents on the application process.
  • Coordinate alumni recruiting activities in assigned geographical areas.
  • Serve as a liaison with organizations and individuals involved in the admissions process.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Desired Qualifications
  • Prior experience with mission-aligned and contextual application review at a highly selective college or university admissions office, especially in medical admissions.
  • Comfort with work travel and possession of a valid driver's license.
  • Preference for a Bachelor's Degree in a science, technology, engineering, mathematics, or related STEM field.
