At Relativity Space, we have two audacious goals: to build the next great commercial launch company with Terran R and to become America’s leading force in additive manufacturing innovation. Both contribute to our long-term vision of creating humanity’s industrial base on Mars, paving the way for interplanetary life to expand the possibilities of the human experience. This journey begins right here on Earth – where we design, build, and fly rockets to deliver customer payloads to orbit. Terran R, our medium-to-heavy lift reusable rocket, fulfills the growing demand for launch capacity, thanks to our iterative approach that accelerates design, testing, and development while minimizing costs. While our groundbreaking research and development in 3D printing pushes the boundaries of large-scale additive manufacturing.
Your journey with us is more than just a job – it’s an opportunity to shape the future of aerospace technology, additive manufacturing, and the human experience alongside a community of passionate, creative individuals. Join us on this extraordinary journey, as we work together to transform our vision into reality.
About the Team:

The Launch team is responsible for designing, building, and operating world-class launch facilities supporting Terran R integration, launch operation, and recovery at Cape Canaveral Space Force Station. This team is critical to the launch success of Terran R, among many other firsts!
What you’ll do:
As a Launch Intern, you will help out and take on an active role in the development, build-up, activation, and operation of launch site GSE, including fluid systems (liquid oxygen, liquid natural gas, gaseous helium, liquid and gaseous nitrogen, hydraulics, water, and environmental control systems), supporting infrastructure, mating hardware and mechanisms, procedure development, system maintenance, operational concept of operations, GUI and automation development, and support launch/integration preparations and operations.
Past intern projects (just a few examples!)
- Designed, built, and tested Aeon R engine ground spin start system
- Developed automation for precise control of ground system valve actuation
- Oversaw design and build of load test boxes for Avionics hardware in the loop testing
- Coordinated/developed interdisciplinary rocket and ground system architecture for Terran R
- Tested flight quick disconnects
- Implemented computer vision on the robots to implemented live depth data
- Worked on test stand infrastructure to help run tests more often and more efficiently
- Designed and 3D printed tools for rocket integration
Skills/Competencies we’re looking for:
- Current undergraduate or graduate student earning degree in mechanical engineering, aerospace engineering, or a related field.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced and intense startup environment.
- Basic knowledge of common fluid & structural components and instrumentation, such as valves, regulators, hydraulic actuators, pressure transducers, thermocouples, flow meters, accelerometers, strain gauges, load cells.
- Ownership of projects from beginning to end, with minimal oversight.
Successful candidates must clear a background check administered by the US government to obtain clearance for on-site work at our government partner location in Cape Canaveral, Florida.
