Responsibilities
  • Supervise and assist with directing the day-to-day nursing activities of the facility during the assigned tour of duty in accordance with applicable standards, regulations, and guidelines.
  • Assist the Director of Nursing Services in directing nursing-service functions and coordinating nursing services with other resident services.
  • Develop, maintain, update, interpret, and enforce nursing-service policies, procedures, manuals, and job descriptions.
  • Maintain current nursing reference materials and recommend resources that support the department's needs.
  • Prepare written and oral reports and recommendations concerning nursing-service operations, programs, activities, and committee matters.
  • Participate in quality-assurance programs, facility surveys, committee meetings, care-plan meetings, discharge-plan reviews, and implementation of committee recommendations.
  • Admit, transfer, and discharge residents and complete required accident, incident, medical, evaluation, study, and charting documentation.
  • Ensure adequate staffing of licensed nurses and certified nursing assistants for the assigned tour of duty.
  • Develop work assignments, delegate authority and accountability to charge nurses, and supervise nursing-service personnel and nurse-aide trainees.
  • Conduct daily rounds, monitor absenteeism and work performance, review complaints and grievances, and recommend staffing, disciplinary, transfer, dismissal, and other personnel actions to the Director.
  • Participate in employee performance evaluations and determine shift staffing requirements.
  • Inform nursing personnel about admissions, prepare rooms, greet and escort newly admitted residents, and coordinate resident transitions.
  • Make rounds with physicians, encourage timely physician documentation, and communicate with residents, families, physicians, and next of kin about care and changes in condition.
  • Visit residents daily to observe and evaluate physical and emotional status and ensure that appropriate direct nursing care is provided.
  • Review nurses' notes, medication cards, treatment schedules, resident care plans, medical treatments, and nursing treatments for completeness, accuracy, and compliance.
  • Provide direct nursing care, start intravenous lines, collect sputum and urine specimens, and take temperature, pulse, respiration, and blood-pressure measurements as necessary.
  • Monitor seriously ill residents, authorize restraints when necessary under facility policy, and ensure compliance with medication administration, storage, and supply-control procedures.
  • Inspect treatment areas and ensure that nursing work areas, resident rooms, and treatment areas remain clean, safe, and sanitary.
  • Develop, schedule, and participate in in-service and continuing-education training, including training related to OSHA, tuberculosis, HIPAA, abuse prevention, safety, and infection control.
  • Develop and enforce safety, hand-hygiene, infection-control, isolation-precaution, personal-protective-equipment, fire-safety, disaster-preparedness, and hazardous-condition reporting procedures.
  • Maintain adequate stocks of medications, medical supplies, and equipment; recommend equipment and supply needs; and support preventive maintenance and safe equipment operation.
  • Participate in resident assessments and care-plan development, review care-plan goals and revisions, and ensure personnel follow each resident's care plan.
  • Recommend nursing-service adjustments and equipment needs based on economic conditions and report suspected or known fraud involving false billing, cost reports, or kickbacks.
  • Protect resident and facility information by safeguarding user credentials and protected health information and reporting unauthorized access or disclosure.
  • Work throughout office, nursing-service, drug-room, nurses'-station, and resident-room areas, including weekends, holidays, call-back situations, and emergency conditions when necessary.
Desired Qualifications
  • Knowledge and experience with PCC is preferred.
  • Training in rehabilitative and restorative nursing practices is preferred.
  • Two or more years of experience, preferably in a long-term care facility, is preferred.

PACS Group acquires Alaska care facility, plans 150-bed skilled nursing centre by 2028

PACS Group has acquired Ridgeway Senior Living, a post-acute care facility in Anchorage, Alaska, marking its fourth property in the state. PACS Group has appointed Carey P. Hendrickson as chief financial officer, effective 27 April 2026. Hendrickson brings nearly four decades of financial leadership across healthcare, senior living and media sectors. Most recently, Hendrickson served as CFO of U.S. Physical Therapy, overseeing 779 outpatient clinics across 44 states. He previously held CFO roles at Capital Senior Living Corporation, managing 128 communities across 23 states, and Belo Corp. PACS Group has announced that co-founder and chief financial officer Mark Hancock will retire on 30 June 2026. He will continue serving on the company's board of directors as vice chairman. Dr Conway currently serves as CEO of Optum, UnitedHealth Group's health services division with revenues exceeding $200 billion.
