  • A Bachelor's degree in chemical, physical, or biological sciences is required, or equivalent education and training under Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendments standards.
  • Completion of 24 semester hours of science is required, including 6 semester hours in Chemistry, 6 semester hours in Biology, and 12 additional semester hours in Chemistry, Biology, or Laboratory Technology.
  • One year of experience in a Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendments-accredited laboratory or another testing laboratory is preferred.
  • After one year of full-time acceptable clinical experience in a specific section, the candidate may qualify to sit for technologist-specific certification through the American Society for Clinical Pathology Board of Certification or another nationally recognized laboratory-certifying agency.
Responsibilities
  • Perform a variety of laboratory procedures used to diagnose and treat patients according to established and approved protocols.
  • Perform laboratory testing under the technical supervision of a clinical laboratory scientist, medical technologist, manager, or laboratory director.
Desired Qualifications
  • One year of experience in a Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendments-accredited laboratory or another testing laboratory, such as an educational, research, surveillance, food, environmental, or agriculture laboratory.
