Location: UHealth Tower/Cystic Fibrosis Clinic

The Clinical Dietitian 1 – Specialty (H) provides nutrition care with greater than 70% of time spent in specialty service as warranted by the facility.

CORE JOB FUNCTIONS:

• Assesses the nutritional needs of patients and develops and implements nutritional care plans.

• Documents the nutritional status and needs of hospitalized patients using established standards of care and practice guidelines.

• Communicates with physicians and other healthcare professionals to coordinate medical and nutritional needs of patients.

• Initiates and follows patients for nutrient intake analysis and makes recommendations for continuance progression or initiation of alternate therapies.

• Writes orders for diet, supplement, enteral/parenteral nutrition and laboratory data per hospital policy.

• Provides counseling and education to patients and their families regarding various topics in medical nutrition therapy and drug nutrient interaction.

• Ensures regulatory compliance including federal, state and accrediting agencies.

• Adheres to University and unit-level policies and procedures and safeguards University assets.

CORE QUALIFICATIONS:                                                                                                 

• Bachelor’s Degree in Dietetics

• Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RDN) credentialed by the Commission on Dietetic Registration (CDR).

• State Licensure (LDN) by the State of Florida Department of Health

• Minimum 3 years of relevant clinical nutrition experience, preferably including experience with cystic fibrosis, pulmonary, or gastrointestinal patient populations.

Preferred Requirements – Eligible for Compensation Incentive:

• Master’s degree in nutrition 

• Board Certification in Specialty Area
