Requirements
  • An Associate's degree or equivalent years of experience and education.
  • No experience is required.
  • One of the listed professional licenses or certifications is required: Clinical Laboratory Technician license from the Montana Department of Labor & Industry; Clinical Laboratory Technician certification from the American Society for Clinical Pathology; Medical Laboratory Technician certification from the American Association for Bioanalysts; Medical Laboratory Technician certification from American Medical Technologists; Medical Laboratory Technician certification from the American Society for Clinical Pathology; Medical Laboratory Technician certification from the California Department of Public Health; Medical Laboratory Technician certification from the State of Hawaii Department of Health; Clinical Laboratory Technician certification from the New York State Education Department; or Medical Laboratory Technician/Clinical Laboratory Technician certification from the North Dakota Board of Clinical Laboratory Practice.
  • Ability to frequently lift, carry, push, or pull objects weighing 0–25 pounds.
  • Ability to frequently sit, stand, walk, reach, and perform repetitive foot, leg, hand, and arm movements.
  • Ability to frequently use near and distance vision and depth perception to identify and distinguish colors.

Responsibilities
  • Perform routine and complex technical laboratory analyses using established procedures and protocols.
  • Perform chemical, microscopic, and bacteriologic tests to obtain data for patient diagnosis and treatment.
  • Perform a full range of laboratory tests, from simple blood tests to more complex tests.
  • Assess specimens for correct handling and quality.
  • Confirm the accuracy of test results and report findings to physicians.
  • Operate complex electronic equipment, computers, and precision instruments.
  • Perform and evaluate quality control procedures.
  • Perform periodic maintenance and assist with instrument calibration.
  • Assist with the proper storage of hazardous materials.
  • Maintain competencies and continuing education to stay informed of new developments in the field.
  • Assist with the laboratory proficiency testing program.
  • Work in a constant state of alertness and in a safe manner.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Desired Qualifications
  • Medical Laboratory Technician or Medical Laboratory Scientist qualification is preferred.
