Requirements
  • A valid current or temporary Alaska registered nurse license is required.
  • An Associate’s degree in nursing is required or its normally demonstrated equivalent knowledge and skills.
  • Basic Life Support certification is required.
  • Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support, Pediatric Advanced Life Support, or additional certification and continuing education may be required based on the area of practice.
  • The role requires creative thinking, prioritization, flexible problem-solving, and clear verbal and written communication.
Responsibilities
  • Provide nursing care under the direction and supervision of a registered nurse and/or licensed physician within the scope of practice.
  • Observe, compile, and report patients’ physical, psychological, social, spiritual, educational, developmental, cultural, and discharge-planning needs.
  • Contribute to patient plans of care and discharge plans using assessment data and input from patients, families, and the healthcare team.
  • Implement delegated interventions identified in care plans and medical orders in compliance with policies, procedures, standards of care, and regulatory requirements.
  • Delegate and supervise care provided by non-licensed personnel when permitted by state scope of practice.
  • Communicate patient status and continuity-of-care information accurately and completely to other caregivers.
  • Report patient conditions, signs and symptoms of changes, progress toward goals, responses to teaching, and treatment effectiveness to registered nurses, physicians, and healthcare team members.
  • Document observations, interventions, patient data, responses to treatment, and physician orders accurately and promptly in patient records.
  • Coordinate and maintain required documentation and patient assessment data according to federal and state guidelines.
  • Communicate and coordinate with interdisciplinary team members regarding functional or care level and transitions to other levels of care.
  • Perform audits related to reimbursement documentation and quality-management processes, and present summary information for management review.
  • Coordinate admissions when assigned, including new resident evaluations and communications with residents, families, referral sources, insurance companies, and clinical staff.
  • Follow established policies, procedures, regulatory and accreditation requirements, and applicable professional standards.
  • Provide customers with a professional service experience consistent with Foundation Health Partners’ core and leader behaviors.
Desired Qualifications
  • A Bachelor’s degree in nursing is preferred.
  • Professional certification is preferred.
  • Additional related education or experience is preferred.
