Requirements
  • A Bachelor's Degree with 1-2 years of coaching experience, or at least 5 years of directly related experience in lieu of a Bachelor's Degree.
  • Coaching experience in intercollegiate athletics, professional athletics, elite amateur sport, or a comparable competitive environment.
  • A strong understanding of wrestling rules, techniques, and strategies.
  • Knowledge of athlete development principles, including strength, conditioning, and skill progression.
  • Understanding of team dynamics, sportsmanship, and athlete wellness.
  • Ability to instruct athletes effectively in practices, drills, and skill development.
  • Strong communication skills for providing feedback to athletes and collaborating with coaching staff.
  • Organizational skills to manage practice plans, training schedules, and game preparation.
  • Observation and evaluation skills to monitor athlete performance and identify development needs.
  • Basic recruiting support skills, including evaluating prospective student-athletes and providing recommendations.
  • Ability to provide constructive feedback and guidance to athletes to enhance individual and team performance.
  • Ability to work collaboratively within the coaching staff to support game strategy and player development.
  • Ability to adapt to changing priorities and support the team in high-pressure or competitive situations.
  • Ability to maintain compliance with all University, National Collegiate Athletic Association, and Ivy League policies.
  • Annual rules education on National Collegiate Athletic Association recruiting legislation is required for coaching employees.
  • Current Automated External Defibrillator, cardiopulmonary resuscitation, and First Aid certification is required.
  • Successful completion of a criminal, education, and motor vehicle record background check and education verification is required.
Responsibilities
  • Support the Head Coach in the leadership and development of student-athletes.
  • Teach athletic skills, foster student-athlete character, and contribute to game strategy.
  • Execute the daily operations of the wrestling program, including recruitment coordination, travel arrangements, and scheduling.
  • Report any National Collegiate Athletic Association or Ivy League rules violations to the compliance office and appropriate parties.
