Requirements
  • The candidate must hold Certified Surgical Technologist certification as required by state regulation.
  • The candidate must have all appropriate state licensure and any required certification education and training.
  • The candidate must have 1-2 years of related experience.
  • The candidate must have working knowledge of interventional equipment, including C-Arm and ultrasound equipment, procedures, and the materials and supplies needed for each procedure.
  • The candidate must have knowledge of sterile techniques.
  • The candidate must have knowledge of universal precautions and personal protective devices used when operating radiology systems.
  • The candidate must successfully complete Basic Life Support certification.
  • The candidate must be able to lift, push, and pull up to 50 pounds.
  • The candidate must be able to stand in a protective apron for up to 45-60 minutes.
Responsibilities
  • Perform scrub and circulating duties during interventional procedures according to company policies and procedures.
  • Prepare and maintain the procedure room, including stocking supplies and procedure trays with required supplies and interventional equipment.
  • Clean the procedure room, equipment, and machinery after procedures.
  • Prepare patients for surgical procedures by positioning, shaving, and prepping them when needed.
  • Perform additional tasks designated by the physician in compliance with state regulations.
  • Prepare and administer medications within the scope of practice and state regulations.
  • Transfer and position patients and transport them to and from the procedure room.
  • Assist the physician during fluoroscopy-guided interventional procedures while maintaining sterile technique.
  • Draw up intravenous medication and label it according to medication-labeling and sterile-field competency policies.
  • Maintain environmental integrity and ensure areas are clean, sanitary, and safe.
  • Inspect facility equipment and instruments before and after procedures to ensure they are in proper working condition.
  • Perform minor equipment repairs and general upkeep when needed, communicate problems to the supervisor, and document issues in the communications log.
  • Dispose of hazardous waste materials, dirty linen, and rugs.
  • Assist with instrument sterilization and packaging of surgical instruments.
  • Prepare, organize, and efficiently use supplies and equipment to prevent waste.
  • Support quality standards, regulatory requirements, and Continuous Quality Improvement activities, including use of quality-improvement tools.
  • Assist with implementing quality goals and facility-specific action plans.
  • Maintain medical records and other administrative and operational records.
  • Comply with data collection and auditing activities.
  • Ensure necessary instruments and equipment are available for physicians and staff.
  • Print images and send them to the physician when needed.
  • Train and orient new employees on medical equipment when needed.
  • File paperwork in patient files according to policies and procedures.
  • Assist with inventory, supply ordering, and restocking.
  • Process X-ray images after acquisition when needed.
  • Archive patient images to a CD or DVD in compliance with medical-record policies and regulations when needed.
  • Participate in facility regulatory and accreditation surveys and action plans addressing identified deficiencies.
Desired Qualifications
  • Previous patient care experience is preferred.
  • Experience with special procedures utilizing a C-Arm is preferred.
