Kaiser Permanente runs an integrated healthcare platform that lets members manage and pay medical, premium, and pharmacy bills online. It serves Medicare Advantage, Individual and Family, and non-employer plans, offering options to pay as a guest or set up payment plans. The platform works by presenting a centralized online portal where users can view bills, choose how to pay, and handle multiple types of charges in one place. Revenue comes from premiums and medical services fees, while the service aims to reduce administrative work for both providers and patients and encourage on-time payments. What sets Kaiser Permanente apart is its combination of healthcare services with a single billing experience across multiple plan types, focusing on a user-friendly, centralized payment process rather than handling billing through separate systems. Its goal is to provide a straightforward, reliable way for members to manage and pay their bills, improving convenience and payment timeliness.

Gary Payton II Foundation and Kaiser Permanente unite for fifth annual GPII Premier Youth Camp in Oakland.

Gary Payton II Foundation and Kaiser Permanente unite for fifth annual GPII Premier Youth Camp in Oakland. For the fifth straight year, NBA Champion and proud son of Oakland Gary Payton II brings two days of basketball, mentorship, and dyslexia support to the community that raised him OAKLAND, Calif., June 23, 2026 /PRNewswire/ - The Gary Payton II Foundation (GPII Foundation) and Kaiser Permanente are partnering on the fifth annual GPII Premier Youth Camp July 1 and 2 at the Open Gym Premier in Oakland. Throughout the camp, Oakland youth will train, compete, and grow alongside professional athletes and community leaders. In addition, resources will be available to support families of young people with dyslexia. The GPII Foundation was founded by a man who grew up in Oakland and knew exactly what this community produces when it invests in its own. The goal of the youth camp is to ensure no young person falls through the cracks because a learning challenge went unseen or unsupported. Kaiser Permanente, one of the nation's leading health care providers and nonprofit health plans, is joining with the GPII Foundation as part of a commitment to improve the overall health and wellness of Bay Area families. Throughout the camp, Gary Payton II will be on the floor with campers, running drills, sharing the lessons that carried him from Oakland to an NBA Championship, and showing every kid in the gym that greatness can come from within. Campers will experience health and wellness programming built around caring for the whole person - mind, body, and spirit. Campers will also hear from community leaders including representatives of the Oakland Fire Department and Langston Morris-Walker, a former professional basketball player turned basketball executive. Scholarships are available for students with dyslexia, ensuring cost is never a barrier to participation, and camp partners are providing healthy snacks, hydration products, and gear that sends every camper home feeling like a pro. "As part of our commitment to support the well-being of the Oakland community, Kaiser Permanente is proud to partner with the GPII Foundation as they create opportunities for kids to be healthy and active." - Yvette Radford, Vice President of External and Community Affairs, Kaiser Permanente Northern California "Basketball was where I felt unstoppable, but the classroom was a different story for a lot of us. No kid should feel less than because of how they learn. That's why this Foundation exists. Having Kaiser Permanente in our corner means we can do more for these kids than we ever could alone. They care about the whole person, and so do we. That's a real partnership." - Gary Payton II, Founder, Gary Payton II Foundation "This partnership lets us scale what we know works. When a child is identified and supported early, the trajectory of their life changes, and Kaiser Permanente's commitment means we can reach more Bay Area families than we ever could on our own. That's what this is really about: turning a two-day camp into a front door for year-round support." - Raquel Payton-Childs, Executive Director, Gary Payton II Foundation The GPII Premier Youth Camp is open to youth across Oakland and the greater Bay Area. Troubled CA hospital to use $25-Million grant to beef up emergency department.

Troubled CA hospital to use $25-Million grant to beef up emergency department. August 13, 2026 Share to: Connor Sheets - Los Angeles Times Healthcare provider Kaiser Permanente said it will give ailing Martin Luther King Jr. Community Hospital a $25-million grant to help expand its overcrowded emergency department. The move comes as the Willowbrook hospital faces a dire financial picture, as The Times reported this month. The Willowbrook hospital, which serves hundreds of mostly low-income emergency patients daily, anticipates losing $80 million to $100 million of annual funding as a result of Medicaid changes under last year's One Big Beautiful Bill Act, or HR1, that go into effect in January. "This magnificent gift from Kaiser Permanente expands space for patient care in our Hope Emergency Center - a critical need given the volume our emergency department handles," Dr. Elaine Batchlor, chief executive of MLK Community Healthcare, said in an email. "This support," she added, "will provide our community with the space it deserves." In order to assist with the expansion, Kaiser Permanente, a nonprofit integrated care and coverage organization, is providing the grant and loaning a $7-million modular building to ensure the hospital can continue emergency care uninterrupted while construction is underway. "Our grant is about service and partnership for the benefit of the people of South Los Angeles," said John Yamamoto, vice president for community health and government relations for Kaiser Permanente in Southern California. He described the expansion as "a shovel-ready project that addresses a clear need for access to care and expanded emergency services." MLK Hospital currently treats some patients in large, air-conditioned tents set up on the asphalt outside. It has converted a waiting room, meditation room and other spaces into treatment areas. The South L.A. hospital has operated in the red in recent years and received a total of $68 million in what amount to bailouts from the state and Los Angeles County between 2023 and 2025. Of that, $29 million came in the form of one-time payments of so-called "leftover" county funds collected via Measure B, a 2002 ballot initiative that levies a form of property tax. The hospital has pushed for "ongoing" Measure B funding, which has been allocated to hospitals that have trauma centers - which MLK Hospital does not have - despite the fact that many of the 13 hospitals that have received the funds in recent years are in far better financial shape. Last week, the L.A. County Board of Supervisors unanimously approved a motion to hire a consultant to reevaluate how the county allocates Measure B funds.
