The CTO Engineering Excellence team’s mission is to inspire a culture of excellence in Tech at Citi, and to make developing software more fun and easier for our engineers. The Sr Java DevOps Engineer will join the Engineering Excellence team to help drive the adoption of modern software delivery tools and practices at scale. The ideal candidate will have expertise in DevOps and SDLC practices along with a proven track record developing and delivering high-quality enterprise software.
Major elements of the role include:
- Helping drive the adoption of strategic technical products that enable engineers to be more productive, such as Github Copilot, Github Enterprise, Kubernetes as well as in-house built tools such as Lightspeed and Release on Demand.
- Helping drive the adoption of best practice enablers such as version control, testing automation and CI/CD to improve industry standard DORA metrics used as benchmarks of high performing technical teams.
- Guide teams successful transition to continuous delivery of new features with high quality through CI/CD.
This role is key to the success of the Engineering Excellence initiative. The lead will interact with and influence technical leaders and developers across CIO. The ideal candidate will have a background in engineering and a strong desire to drive change and support others. This role will report to the Director of Engineering Excellence located in Irving, TX.
Key Responsibilities
- Supporting the adoption of strategic technical products such as Github Copilot and Github Enterprise, as well as in-house tools such as Lightspeed and Release on Demand.
- Contribute new features to Engineering Excellence in house tools to drive usage and remove barriers.
- Embed within software teams to drive the adoption of DORA enablers, best practices, and implement CI/CD.

Skills/Experience:
- Experience in DevOps and CI/CD including setting up deployment pipelines
- Experience with Docker and containerization
- Experience with cloud platforms like AWS, Azure or Google Cloud
- Strong understanding of software delivery best practices, Agile methodologies, and DORA metrics
- Proficient coding in Java
- Ability to code in Go, Python, .NET a strong plus
- Experience with Tekton and Harness a strong plus
- Experience building Lightspeed (internal tool) pipelines a strong plus
- Certifications in DevOps or related fields are a plus.
- Experience driving collaborative work in a geographically distributed environment.
