Requirements
  • Associate's degree in Nursing is required
  • Licensed Registered Nurse in good standing for the state of Michigan
  • Current driver's license in the state of Michigan and proof of insurance required
  • BLS certification required by completion of core orientation
  • Bachelor's degree in Nursing is preferred, must obtain within 8 years of hire
  • Critical care or Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) as well as other certifications may be required for some Registered Nurses, unit specific
  • Ability to read, interpret, and analyze data from various computer systems and equipment to set an appropriate plan of action
  • Must be able to constantly communicate both verbally, in writing and electronically
  • Physical demands include regularly lifting up to 50 pounds and standing for extended periods; implies ability to push, pull and handle equipment
  • Electronic Fetal Monitoring Certification through PQF or NCC is required within 6 months of completing intermediate fetal monitoring
  • Bronson South Haven Specific: Emergency Department certifications including SALT triage, ESI Triage, NIH Stroke Scale within 90 days; Advanced Cardiac Life Support, Pediatric Advanced Life Support, and Trauma Nursing Core Course within 6 months; Special Care Unit requires Pediatric Advanced Life Support within 6 months; The general Swing Bed facility documentation requirement involves completing the Workday CBL Swing beds within a specified timeframe
Responsibilities
  • Manage the care delivery for patients throughout their length of stay using the nursing process of assessment, planning, diagnosing, implementation and evaluation
  • Coordinate the care provided by other professionals and delegate selected acts to patient care assistants and universal service assistants
  • Provide selected aspects of physical care appropriate to patient acuity and complexity
  • Document and communicate patient response, resource consumption and anticipated needs during each tour of duty
  • Assess and document comprehensive patient data, interpret vital signs, and identify patient problems; develop and implement an individualized plan of care
  • Utilize clinical pathways and evidence-based interventions; administer prescribed medications and treatments; ensure patient comfort and safety; initiate patient education; coordinate discharge planning
  • Evaluate progress toward outcomes; document patient responses; participate in quality improvement activities; maintain competency through ongoing educational activities
  • Collaborate with multiple health disciplines to effect positive patient outcomes; advocate for patient autonomy and rights; integrate ethical considerations and research findings into practice
  • Perform scrub duties and surgical coordination as applicable; identify equipment needs, anticipate needs of the surgical team, and support the surgical workflow; handle case information; on-call responsibilities and after-hours duties as assigned
  • Adhere to standards of professional performance including peer review, leadership, committee participation, and maintaining a professional environment
  • Support cross-hospital staffing and swing bed related responsibilities where applicable
Desired Qualifications
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing completed within 8 years of hire (if not already in requirements)
  • Electronic Fetal Monitoring Certification through PQF or NCC within 6 months for Labor & Delivery and Mother/Baby units
  • Emergency Department: SALT triage, ESI triage, NIH Stroke Scale, Advanced Cardiac Life Support, Pediatric Advanced Life Support, Trauma Nursing Core Course within specified timelines (TNCC for full-time and part-time)
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support certification within 6 months for Special Care Unit staff
  • Ability to perform scrub duties in multiple services and support intraoperative needs where applicable; on-call requirements may be extended for certain departments
  • Swing bed facility considerations and cross-hospital staffing flexibility for South Haven and Lakeview locations
