Mid Market Senior Underwriter

A bit about the job:

In this role you will oversee the underwriting and financial performance of the your underwriting team in line with Aviva’s strategy. You would support with the oversight and trading decisions on the larger and more complex cases. You will engage with brokers to build and support great trading relationships, be able to perform data analysis and work to upskill your own development.
You will act as a referral point for the team handling complex technical referrals and queries as well as conferring with the branch underwriting manager, line leads and solutions teams where appropriate. You will support technical development in the team, undertaking audits and reviews and evaluating for licence progressions as well as day to day coaching.

You will support implementation of changes within the team to policies and processes. Keep up to date with market and insurance trends and changes and share this knowledge with the team to ensure they are up to date.

Skills and experience we’re looking for:

• Expert knowledge of Insurance and Commercial underwriting, experience of property & liability is essential

• Excellent communication, listening, time management and negotiating skills, along with excellent coaching and mentoring skills to develop your team to be the best decision makers

• Analysis of risks and ability to communicate and present effectively to brokers and/or customers

• Familiar with applying underwriting knowledge to effectively improve processes/procedures, whilst being responsible for own underwriting caseloads within a regulatory environment

• Excellent business development/customer engagement skills in order to influence key contacts in the marketplace
