Requirements
  • A bachelor's degree in human resources, industrial relations, business administration, organizational development, or a related field is required.
  • Eight years of Human Resources professional experience, including five to seven years of prior leadership or people management experience, is required.
  • Knowledge of federal and state laws, regulations, and rulings of governmental agencies, including the Fair Labor Standards Act, Equal Employment Opportunity, Occupational Safety and Health Administration, unemployment, and workers' compensation requirements.
  • Knowledge of the dual-employment relationship and West Virginia University policies for practice plan members who are also faculty of West Virginia University.
  • Strong leadership, communication, team-building, verbal communication, and written communication skills.
  • Ability to execute initiatives across a complex organization.
  • Demonstrated ability to serve as a trusted business partner with strong business acumen and independent judgment.
  • Ability to identify correlations between talent initiatives and business outcomes.
Responsibilities
  • Lead the development of service-oriented Human Resources strategies and programs in support of the organization's business plan and strategic direction.
  • Collaborate with the Chief Human Resources Officer of WVU Medicine and WVU Medicine Practice Plans leadership to develop HR plans and strategies that support business objectives and long-term strategy and goals.
  • Collaborate with Physician Executives to develop workplace engagement and retention strategies and measure program outcomes in business terms to support program investments.
  • Serve as an advisor to the senior leadership team and a strategic advisor on human capital matters and their impact on organizational culture.
  • Assess, inspire, and develop the HR team to create an innovative HR function that supports the organization.
  • Provide leadership and oversight for HR programs and policies, ensuring that they are current, competitive, financially responsible, and legally compliant.
  • Work directly with Human Resources Business Partners and HR Employee Relations staff to create and achieve strategic goals and manage organizational risk, and drive projects to completion.
  • Oversee development of the annual operating budget for the HR Department.
  • Provide leadership, direction, evaluation, and support to the HR Department to improve service delivery, achieve economies of scale, and incorporate best practices into department operations.
  • Act as a liaison with WVU Health System HR Shared Services and West Virginia University's HR Department to deliver HR services for practice-plan providers, including dually employed providers.
  • Work with staff to help define and achieve operational and management goals and performance objectives.
  • Guide managers and senior leaders on complex employee relations matters for staff.
  • Monitor human resources indicators, identify problem areas, and recommend actions to address deficiencies.
  • Implement change management plans to meet the changing needs of the organization.
  • Assist with onboarding newly hired or promoted senior leaders and directors.
  • Support mergers and acquisitions into WVU Health System.
Desired Qualifications
  • A master's degree in human resources, industrial relations, business administration, or a related field is preferred.
  • Professional in Human Resources or Senior Professional in Human Resources certification and/or Society for Human Resource Management Certified Professional or Senior Certified Professional certification is desirable and preferred.
  • Prior experience and knowledge of Joint Commission and other regulatory standards in the healthcare industry, including prior experience in healthcare or physician practice plans.
  • Prior experience and knowledge of professional board regulations, professional licensing standards, and medical staff affairs, including hospital credentialing and privileging.
