Requirements
  • Graduation from an accredited high school or GED program.
  • Three years of job-related experience, or 45 hours of college, or a combination of job-related experience and college hours.
  • Ability to type 35 words per minute or 70 keystrokes per minute.
  • Knowledge of computer applications and standard word-processing software.
  • Ability to pass one or more position-specific clerical, administrative, or secretarial skills tests, which may include 10-key, coding, data entry, filing, grammar, mathematics, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word, proofreading, spelling, sorting, or timed typing.
  • Ability to understand and follow written and verbal instructions, organize and process work, establish and maintain effective working relationships, and provide customer service to County employees and the general public.
  • Ability to sit, walk, or stand for prolonged periods and lift files, boxes, and copies weighing up to 25 pounds without assistance.
Responsibilities
  • Resolve problems and issues and respond to inquiries from Level I and Level II clerks, customers, and other entities.
  • Review, validate, and process complex documents, data, reports, and other materials requiring specialized knowledge.
  • Collect, input, and reconcile data, funds, or inventories and prepare appropriate reports.
  • Use department-specific and county-wide specialized and general computer systems for data access, input, retrieval, purchasing, and inventory activities.
  • Assist the supervisor in training staff and performing quality-control duties to ensure compliance with policies and procedures.
  • Maintain files and records and release information according to County policies and procedures while maintaining confidentiality of records.
  • Process documents, draft routine correspondence, provide information, research files and records, and resolve questions and problems.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
