Requirements
  • Bachelor or Master of Science degree in Architecture from an NAAB-accredited university.
  • Registration as an Architect with the National Council of Architectural Registration Boards is required; applicable jurisdictional licenses may also be required.
  • At least 10 years of architectural experience.
  • Registration as an Architect and National Council of Architectural Registration Boards certification are required.
  • Experience leading architectural design and execution efforts for industrial, manufacturing, commercial, laboratory, life sciences, chemical processing, or similar technical facilities.
  • Demonstrated leadership experience managing multidisciplinary project teams.
  • Strong understanding of project controls, budgeting, scheduling, and design quality management.
  • Thorough knowledge of building codes, life safety requirements, and architectural best practices.
  • Strong understanding of facility planning, building systems integration, and industrial facility design.
  • Experience preparing conceptual studies, design packages, and construction documents.
  • Ability to develop preliminary construction cost estimates and evaluate design alternatives.
  • Proficiency with Revit and building information modeling-based design workflows.
  • Experience coordinating architectural deliverables with multiple engineering disciplines.
  • Ability to lead teams, mentor staff, and successfully manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Ability to sit or stand for long periods of time.
  • The selected candidate must be authorized to work in the United States.
Responsibilities
  • Lead a team of architects and designers to ensure the quality and accuracy of deliverables and manage individual and team performance.
  • Serve as the architectural discipline lead on major capital projects and complex facility designs.
  • Review and approve all architectural deliverables.
  • Validate professional services and prepare preliminary construction cost estimates at project onset while tracking changes as projects progress.
  • Produce professional service estimates for project deliverables, project studies and estimates, change notices, and development of new work through proposal efforts.
  • Develop conceptual layouts and cost studies to determine efficient approaches to project tasks.
  • Establish design criteria incorporating client requirements, estimate or scope basis, and design basis while meeting applicable state, local, and federal standards and codes.
  • Initiate timely change notices when deviations from scope affect schedule, deliverables, or project cost.
  • Plan and organize team work and communicate the plan to the team, project leadership, and client.
  • Track discipline performance budget progress, schedule commitments, and quality standards using project-control tools.
  • Delegate work to architects and designers according to their technical skills and experience, and follow up to support efficient progress and quality.
  • Present project designs to leaders for review and make recommendations to meet their needs.
  • Perform or participate in final inspections of improvement projects and make recommendations regarding acceptance of construction work.
  • Review building plans and site designs for aesthetics, environmental acceptability, code and standards compliance, and accessibility requirements.
  • Prepare reports and correspondence.
  • Research, plan, design, and supervise construction of building projects according to client needs and financial resources, applying knowledge of design, construction procedures, zoning and building codes, and building materials.
  • Consult with clients to determine functional and spatial requirements for new structures or renovations and prepare information regarding design, specifications, materials, color, equipment, estimated costs, and construction time.
  • Participate in planning training programs, continuing education opportunities, and professional development of staff.
