Requirements
  • A Bachelor's degree or Technical College Degree with 6 years of related experience in aerospace, or an equivalent combination of technical education related to electronics, electromechanical systems, computer technology, aviation, or simulation technology.
  • Experience with flight simulation and detailed knowledge of flight simulator hardware technology is preferred.
  • Ability to create and understand technical documents and drawings related to aircraft, computers, electronics, and flight simulation technology.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from managers, clients, and customers.
  • Ability to produce, analyze, and manipulate reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret professional journals, technical procedures, and governmental regulations.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office products, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
  • Eligibility for a Department of Defense personal security clearance.
  • U.S. citizenship is required due to U.S. Government contract requirements.
  • Ability to work flexible hours and overtime as needed, including occasional weekends.
  • Ability to travel within the continental United States and to international sites.
  • Ability to climb stairs to enter and exit a simulator.
Responsibilities
  • Understand the bid approach and scope of work.
  • Support development of the execution plan and schedule to ensure producibility.
  • Review and assist with generation of Basis of Estimates for new cost proposals and update existing estimates when the proposed scope changes.
  • Attend project kickoff meetings to understand project schedules and overall requirements.
  • Support generation of a Hardware Development Plan for production execution.
  • Understand the Integrated Master Plan and Integrated Master Schedule to support risk and time-phased production.
  • Ensure the Integrated Master Schedule adequately defines procurement and production efforts.
  • Review schedule milestones with hardware teams and consult with Project Management and Project Engineering to determine changes to the Master Plan.
  • Serve as Control Account Manager for production labor on assigned projects.
  • Perform labor-hours analysis and labor-hour spreading for newly launched or re-baselined programs.
  • Monitor advance orders and buyer-furnished parts to ensure component availability.
  • Generate Engineering Change Requests for design issues.
  • Manage hardware engineering discrepancy and Engineering Change Notice burndown plans and ensure items are incorporated before Tear Down, Package, and Ship.
  • Provide the project team with status updates on available produced assets, such as test beds.
  • Coordinate with test engineers to test designs and functionality before full integration.
  • Ensure a smooth transition between design, production, in-house testing, and Tear Down, Package, and Ship.
  • Participate in Tear Down, Package, and Ship debriefs with the Project Manager regarding outstanding hardware issues.
  • Identify technical documentation required for deployment and ensure the deployment team receives a complete documentation package.
  • Assist the Project Manager and Project Engineer with risk definition and mitigation plans.
  • Meet regularly with team members to gather status.
  • Participate in process improvement initiatives.
  • Support production and manufacturing personnel with problems they encounter.
  • Assist with problem resolution and coordinate with the engineering design team to correct or revise designs and documentation for manufacturability and cost reduction.
  • Review manufacturing methods and recommend efficiency improvements.
  • Participate in Make/Buy decisions to determine cost-effective production methods.
  • Perform drawing and design reviews for accuracy and manufacturability of new or revised drawings and parts lists.
  • Generate detailed work instructions for drawings, specifications, and other technical data.
  • Report assigned program status to upper management through direct communication or weekly status reports.
  • Coordinate with other departments to maintain a continual flow of work and complete assignments smoothly.
  • Interface with subcontractors regarding progress, engineering support, coordination, and schedule.

CAE reports Q1 revenue of $1.17B, up 6.8% year-over-year, maintains fiscal 2027 outlook

CAE reported first quarter fiscal 2027 results with revenue of $1,173.4 million, up 6.8% year-over-year from $1,098.6 million. Earnings per share declined to $0.10 from $0.18 in the prior year, whilst adjusted EPS remained flat at $0.26. The Montreal-based company generated free cash flow of $104.0 million and maintained a net debt-to-adjusted EBITDA ratio of 2.27x. Civil Aviation revenue rose 5.6% to $641.6 million, though profitability decreased. Defence and Security revenue increased 8.3% to $531.8 million with continued margin expansion. CAE's transformation plan progressed during the quarter, including a review of strategic alternatives for Flightscape and plans to close four to six Civil training centres. The company targets $125 million to $150 million in annual transformation run-rate savings by fiscal 2030. Management maintained its unchanged fiscal 2027 outlook.
