Requirements
  • Master's Degree from an approved Nurse Practitioner program or completion of an accredited Physician Assistant program (MS-PAS)
  • Basic Life Support from American Heart Association
  • Registered Nursing License from the Louisiana State Board of Nursing
  • Advanced Practice Registered Nurse from the Louisiana State Board of Nursing or current Physician Assistant license in the State of Louisiana from the Louisiana State Board of Medical Examiners
  • Certification by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA)
  • ICD-10 and CPT-4 working knowledge
  • Medical skills
  • Computer software skills
  • Communication and guest relation skills
  • Observes patients for signs and symptoms of abuse/neglect and reports immediately per policy
  • Maintains confidentiality of all patient information per HIPAA policies and procedures
  • Maintains required continuing education hours to assure continued competence
  • Stays abreast of responsibilities required by federal and state laws, statutes, or regulations
  • Professional ownership and commitment to the principles and core values of guest relations
  • Demonstrates leadership of the clinical team
  • Escalates issues and presents solutions to clinic leadership
  • Ensures patient safety during clinic visits in accordance with policy
  • Maintains a clean clinic working environment
  • Attends daily huddles, staff meetings and provider meetings
  • Participates in ongoing performance improvement activities and initiatives
Responsibilities
  • Provides medical care and treatment to patients
  • Performs physical examinations and preventative health measures within the prescribed guidelines and instructions of the physician
  • Plans a treatment strategy to meet identified needs
  • Evaluates responses to nursing and medical interventions
  • Responds promptly to patient calls and messages and ensures same day completion of calls and messages
  • Maintains accurate patient and business records including the completion of encounters
  • Observes patients for signs and symptoms of abuse/neglect and report immediately in accordance with policy
  • Recognizes emergencies and responds appropriately in adherence to organizational policy and procedure
  • Coordinates plans of care, periodically review these plans and implement methods to keep the quality of care under constant surveillance
  • Collaborates with the clinical team
  • Provides input in hiring, disciplinary action and termination decisions of clinical personnel
  • Attends all daily huddles, staff meetings and provider meetings
  • Participates in on-going performance improvement activities and initiatives
  • Manages the clinic environment to ensure safety and infection control standards are met
  • Maintains a clean clinic environment
Desired Qualifications
  • Women’s Health Certification/WHNP and experience is preferred

ARPA-H to fund behavioral health projects through new initiative

ARPA-H to fund behavioral health projects through new initiative. The Advanced Research Projects Agency for Health announced Nov. 21 that it will fund up to $100 million in projects for quantitative measures of mental and behavioral health through its new Evidence-Based Validation & Innovation for Rapid Therapeutics in Behavioral Health initiative. The program will focus on data regarding individual clinical outcomes and patient response to novel treatments.
