Requirements
  • Graduation from an accredited school of nursing.
  • Valid Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) credential.
  • At least two years of Nurse Practitioner office-practice experience, preferably in an infusion-related practice.
  • Infusion experience.
  • Proof of current vaccinations, including recommended boosters commonly required for staff working with immunocompromised patients: measles, mumps, rubella, varicella, hepatitis A and B, influenza, and COVID-19.
Responsibilities
  • Place and maintain peripheral intravenous catheters for infusion therapy needs and continuously assess the intravenous site.
  • Access and maintain peripherally inserted central catheter lines and manage or change catheter dressings according to protocol.
  • Assess the patency of intravenous access devices and troubleshoot issues.
  • Address abnormal laboratory results and relay information to physicians or patients as needed.
  • Prepare medications for intravenous administration as ordered.
  • Administer intravenous therapy using an electronic pump, troubleshoot pump alarms, and administer therapy by gravity or dial-a-flow tubing.
  • Draw laboratory specimens according to physician orders and prepare specimens for processing.
  • Document infusion charting and patient messages in the electronic medical record system.
  • Address patient questions or concerns about adverse effects, side effects, diagnosis, and treatment within the scope of a mid-level provider.
  • Use clinical judgment during evaluation activities to meet patient-care needs and establish priorities.
  • Monitor the safety and effectiveness of the clinical environment and equipment.
  • Participate in activities that facilitate effective interpersonal communication with the facility.
  • Cover any clinic as needed at the direction of the Manager of Clinical Operations.
  • Support professional practice in accordance with nursing practice standards, Joint Commission requirements, applicable state and local laws, and company policy.
  • Perform other duties and tasks as assigned.
Desired Qualifications
  • PICC certification.
  • Chemotherapy experience.
  • Infusion-related office-practice experience.
