Requirements
  • A high school diploma/GED or 10 years of work experience is required.
  • Two years of experience is required.
  • Frequent lifting, carrying, pushing, and pulling of objects weighing 0–25 pounds is required.
  • Frequent sitting, standing, walking, reaching, and repetitive foot/leg and hand/arm movements are required.
  • Frequent near and far vision, depth perception, and the ability to identify and distinguish colors are required.
  • Frequent use of hearing and speech for oral communication, including the ability to hear alarms and malfunctioning machinery, is required.
  • Frequent keyboard use and data entry are required.
  • Occasional bending, stooping, kneeling, squatting, twisting, and gripping are required.
  • Occasional lifting, carrying, pushing, and pulling of objects weighing 25–50 pounds are required.
  • Rare climbing is required.
Responsibilities
  • Obtain and interpret medical documentation, compare it with insurance coverage criteria, and create orders for medical equipment and supplies.
  • Verify patient insurance eligibility and benefits and communicate financial responsibilities to patients, caregivers, and other health care providers.
  • Review, obtain, and log medical documentation supporting reimbursement of equipment and supplies.
  • Perform accurate data entry into the operating system and process orders for appropriate equipment and supplies to ensure delivery and correct billing.
  • Communicate with patients, employees, payers, caregivers, and other health care providers about order status.
  • Collect patient payments for coinsurance, copayments, and self-pay items.
  • Obtain written orders and prior authorization for appropriate equipment and supplies.
  • Ensure compliance with Medicare, Medicaid, and accreditation standards.
  • Work in a constant state of alertness and in a safe manner.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
