Requirements
  • At least 6 years of recent related experience teaching at the secondary level or higher, completed within the last 18 months, with either a minimum of 600 classroom hours or a minimum of a 12-week course.
  • A master's degree in any field, or a bachelor's degree in any field with documentation showing the instructor taught at least three 3-6 month courses in ILR 1 to ILR 2 or 6-9 months in ILR 2 to ILR 3 to military students and that average test scores exceeded the goal by at least half a point.
  • Completed formal study of the English language and achieved at least ILR level 2 as measured by a Department of Defense test, a qualifying TOEFL score, an English Comprehension Level test score of at least 89, or at least proficiency level 2+ or Advanced-High on an ACTFL Oral Proficiency Interview.
  • Demonstrate target-language proficiency through a DLIFLC Oral Proficiency Interview or 2-skill OPI, an interview certified by the American Council on the Teaching of Foreign Languages, or the Defense Language Proficiency Test.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.
  • Ability to install and enable foreign fonts.
  • Proficiency with common media players, including Windows Media Player and Real Player, and classroom technologies such as SMART Boards.
  • Proficiency with Internet Explorer, Chrome, or other web browsers.
Responsibilities
  • Provide instruction in speaking, listening, writing, and reading skills.
  • Provide instruction on regional and cultural topics.
  • Integrate technology in the classroom and in homework assignments.
  • Develop learning materials.
