Citizen Health raises $44M to build AI advocate for rare-disease families

Citizen Health, an AI-powered platform for rare disease patients, has raised more than $44 million in venture funding since its 2023 launch, including a $30 million Series A round led by 8VC in August 2025. Co-founded by technology entrepreneurs Farid Vij and Nasha Fitter, whose daughter has FOXG1 syndrome, the platform addresses the challenge facing rare disease families who typically spend 53 hours weekly on care beyond ordinary parenting. Citizen Health has built one of the largest rare patient data networks, with over 8,000 patients across 350 diseases and 16 pharmaceutical companies using the data. The company is now launching an "AI advocate" using agentic AI to schedule appointments, navigate insurance appeals and connect patients with clinical trials. Fitter credits the platform with helping her foundation's treatment reach FDA approval whilst saving approximately $80 million by skipping phase three trials.
