We are currently hiring a Transportation Supervisor to oversee our Richmond facility/cross dock. The position will work in unison with our warehouse and transportation network at our distribution center. Our top preferred candidate will be flexible with their hours and be on call for any issues.
Job Description:
- Coordinates and consolidates domestic and international systems to support shipments.
- Ensures lowest cost transportation by analyzing company and customer needs, researching transportation methods and auditing carrier costs and performances.
- May interpret laws, rules, and regulations regarding shipping and prepare applications for import/export control certifications and licenses.
- May maintain logs and compile information on routes, rates, and services on various vendors.
- Plans and coordinates fleet operations, including acquisition, scheduling, maintenance service and repair, and disposal of trucks, and hires and/or interacts with common carriers (third-party transportation companies) as appropriate.
- Coordinates and supervises the daily activities of a team or like teams of employees in the professional, business support, and/or operations support career streams
- Manages activities of a team that range from routine to moderately complex; coordinates work activities with other supervisors.
Minimum Qualifications:
- 3+ years of subject matter experience including leadership capabilities.
Additional Qualifications:
- Clean, valid Driver License is required; Class C or above license is strongly preferred
- 3 years experience in a similar role working with both domestic and international shipments
- 2 years experience driving box trucks and vans preferred
- DOT Medical Certificate Card preferred
- Demonstrated organizational skills, communication skills (verbal/written), and leadership skills
- Ability to use critical thinking to solve problems
- Knowledge of the area and ability to assess and/or reorganize routes
- Knowledge of RoadNet preferred
- Experience with JD Edwards (E1) preferred
