Systems Engineering Intern

Work with engineers and task leaders in providing technical support to the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA) Emergency Communications division (ECD) for the Next Generation Network (NGN) priority services program and the national security and emergency preparedness (NS/EP) Priority Telecommunication Services program. Work independently or as part of a technical team, in support of systems engineering projects. 

Primary Responsibilities

Projects may include Requirements Analysis, System Architecting, System Analysis, Data Architectures Analysis, and Systems and Operational Performance Analysis.  End products may be technical documents, reports, and briefings for our ECD customers.  This work will also likely involve participation in numerous meetings with Government and senior staff.  Candidate may be required to produce preliminary solutions to a variety of problems that may arise in an expeditious and timely manner.  Make presentations to colleagues and Government customers on an occasional basis.

Basic Qualifications

• US Citizenship

• Enrolled in a bachelor’s degree program from an accredited college/university in Electrical, Computer, or Systems Engineering

• Demonstrated interest/experience in communication networks and computer network architecture

• Ability to interact well with a team, positive attitude, good oral and written communication skills, and strong self-initiative. 

• Proficiency in MS Office.

• Must be able to obtain DHS Entry on Duty (EOD). No initial clearance is needed to start with the Leidos program; however, you must be eligible to obtain and maintain a Top Secret security clearance.

Preferred Qualifications

Familiarity with the Systems Engineering Life Cycle (SELC) is preferable, but not required.  Coursework involving communication networks, Internet Protocol (IP), and an understanding of information security is helpful.   Knowledge or experience with some of the following is an advantage:  Product Lifecycle Analysis, Requirements Analysis, Product Testing, Risk Analysis, VoIP, wireless technologies (including GSM, CDMA, and/or LTE), next-generation networks, industry standards organizations, Cellular networks.  Experience with, or training in, programming (Java, Python, C++) is preferable. Familiarity with SharePoint development/maintenance is preferable.

Pay Range:

Pay Range $44,850.00 - $81,075.00
