Requirements
  • Current General Optical Council registration as a fully qualified Optometrist.
  • Refractive experience is essential.
  • Experience working as an Optometrist in a refractive, high street, hospital or specialist clinical setting.
  • Experience using patient administration systems and electronic medical record systems.
  • Confidence working with conversion targets and key performance indicators within vision correction.
  • Strong communication skills and a patient-focused approach.
  • Good information technology skills and excellent attention to detail.
  • Ability to work well as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
  • Availability to work Fridays.
Responsibilities
  • Carry out examinations associated with cataract and refractive surgery.
  • Complete pre-operative and post-operative consultations.
  • Run acute and follow-up clinics for post-surgery patients.
  • Accurately document findings using electronic medical record systems.
  • Provide clinical advice, health advice and support to patients.
  • Refer patients to a medical practitioner where required.
  • Work closely with consultants, nurses and wider clinical colleagues.
  • Follow clinical governance, Care Quality Commission, equipment safety and mandatory training requirements.
