Under direct supervision, responsible for providing customer service to patients by scheduling appointments, performing check-in and check-out procedures, verifying insurance benefits, obtaining authorization, and providing telephone triage.
- Detail oriented with the ability to organize and coordinate work within schedule constraints and handle emergent requirements in a timely manner.
- Ability to monitor important and complex projects concurrently.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Lotus Notes/other email software.
- Ability to effectively communicate verbally and in writing, to include writing and preparing memorandums, letters, and other official correspondence.
EDUCATION:
High school diploma or GED is required.
- Greets patients, verifies insurance coverage and eligibility, reviews new patient registration, obtains authorizations, assists in the collection of copays and enters new patient information.
- Maintains medical and insurance referral records and prepares patient charts.
- Ensures test results are filed. Handles and answers all phone calls and transfers calls to the appropriate departments as needed.
- Manages patient appointments according to the physician's schedules and/or protocols.
- Performs all other duties as assigned.
