Requirements
  • Must be willing to travel between Jackson County and George County and have a satisfactory driving record.
  • Must be able to bend, stoop, and lift up to 25 pounds.
  • Must demonstrate strong written and verbal communication skills and the ability to work under pressure, meet deadlines, pay attention to detail, and multitask in complex situations.
  • Must have knowledge of case management methods, principles, and techniques, including information and referral, assessment, client interviewing, advocacy, and resource utilization.
  • Must be familiar with available programs, public assistance providers, Medicaid, service agencies, protective services, referral centers, community residential resources, and crisis and emergency resources.
  • Must possess superior customer service skills and professional etiquette.
  • Must possess proficient computer and keyboard skills and be able to use office technology such as telephones and fax machines.
  • Must have advanced knowledge and skill in using Microsoft Office.
  • Must understand the fundamentals of automated data processing and be able to quickly gain a detailed understanding of complex computerized and non-computerized information.
  • A valid driver's license and a satisfactory driving record are required.
Responsibilities
  • Evaluate the needs of low-income participants and provide available services.
  • Complete intake and determine clients' eligibility for all DCS programs.
  • Assess client needs, set goals, and prepare pledges.
  • Assist with Food Pantry pickup in Jackson County.
  • Assist in compiling reporting data and community needs assessments.
Desired Qualifications
  • A bachelor's degree in social work or a related field is preferred.
  • One year of experience in a human service-related field is preferred.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills for communicating with a wide range of people to promote goodwill and enhance agency credibility.
