Requirements
  • An active Secret Security Clearance, or the ability to obtain one.
  • Bachelor’s degree in a technical or related field.
  • 5-7 years of experience in manufacturing/production support.
  • Professional knowledge and experience in materials, welding, nondestructive testing and mechanical engineering or equivalent.
  • Familiarity with Naval Shipbuilding welding and associated nondestructive testing standards and practice.
  • Familiarity with Naval Shipbuilding metallic/non-metallic material systems and including knowledge of Naval Shipbuilding specifications including Navy-adopted commercial specifications and standards, and DOD acquisition programs.
  • Knowledge of systems engineering and system integration of Submarine Hull, Mechanical & Electrical (HME) systems.
  • Familiarity with SEA05 Engineering Technical Authority Manual (ETAM) Process and Procedures.
  • Time management skills.
  • Proven excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to pay attention to details and to work based on available data and not guesswork.
  • Ability to use Microsoft Office packages effectively.
  • Ability to be flexible both in relation to job-specification and schedules.
Responsibilities
  • Be responsible for integration of NDT best practices in the design and construction of COLUMBIA Class submarines.
  • Provide support in the design and integration of Welding, Materials and NDT.
  • Execute, manage, track, and report commitments within designated timelines.
  • Attend recurring planning meetings to accomplish SIT roles/responsibilities.
  • Interface with internal and external stakeholders to direct cost effective, integrated and sustainable design, fabrication and construction solutions.
  • Manage, direct and organize investments in advanced NDT technology for integration into submarine construction.
  • Provide technical and contractual oversight of the NDT technical area including additional support of materials and welding technologies for integration into submarines.
  • Facilitate timely decisions by cognizant team members in the review and adjudication of all design and construction products.
  • Ensure formal correspondence are dispositioned by the appropriate NAVSEA stakeholders, such as Naval Reactors, Strategic Systems Programs (SSP), UK, NAVY Warfare Centers and Field Activities, in accordance with Ship Specifications, to support on-time response to commitments.
  • Coordinates with Technical Warrant Holders, other Navy organizations, and other SIT Leads in the exercise of systems engineering, to ensure trade-offs and integration interfaces are identified and resolve.
  • Act as the technical and programmatic liaison between the Program Office, NAVSEA, Government Laboratories and other DOD technical activities, commercial vendors and Design Yard and Shipyards.
  • Identifies and manages risks and develops mitigation plans for projects and tasks on significant problems under their cognizance.
  • Perform other duties as assigned including, but not limited to, the development and presentation of briefs to senior NAVSEA and industry leadership.
Desired Qualifications
  • Experience with Navy acquisition and Submarine Programs.
  • Experience interfacing with an end item customer.
  • Recent experience in Team Submarine would be ideal.
