Requirements
  • Completion of a diploma, associate, or baccalaureate degree in nursing required
  • Current licensure as a Registered Nurse as approved by the Tennessee Board of Nursing for practice in the state of Tennessee
  • Responsible for Continuing Education Units annually
  • BLS certification must be obtained within the orientation period, and certification must be kept current while in this position
  • In Critical Care areas, ACLS certification must be obtained within the first year of employment, and certification must be kept current
  • Certification in area of clinical expertise by recognized authoritative agency desirable
  • Additional certifications may be required at department’s discretion
  • 2 years of critical care experience required
  • 5 or more years of experience preferred
  • Must be able to demonstrate EKG proficiency
  • Basic computer skills preferred
Responsibilities
  • Participates in population health management across the continuum to achieve optimal clinical, financial, operational, and patient satisfaction outcomes
  • Collects and reviews patient information while applying appropriate standards of care. This includes reviewing patient history and physical and assures admission data entry for the Telehealth database is completed with the appropriate timeframe
  • Continually examine available information obtained by other health care team members to assist in safe patient care, maintain quality metrics and drive system reporting outcomes
  • Completes audio visual assessments and reassessments according to patient need and as outlined in Telehealth standards of care
  • Evaluates and collaborates with the interdisciplinary team in a timely manner while monitoring patient progress towards goals, responses to treatments/interventions, and expected outcomes
  • Reviews and suggest revisions to the plan of care to reflect patient needs based on evaluation of the patient’s ongoing condition(s)
  • Documentation reflects objective/subjective data and if applicable, patient’s response. Documentation is timely and in accordance with applicable policy(s)
  • May participate in research activities. Participates in unit or facility shared leadership
  • Interacts with patients, families, and visitors in regard to technology and the role of Telehealth
  • Serves as a resource to other staff members and facility based clinical teams while precepting and mentoring when appropriate
  • Uses skilled communication and promotes collegiality between staff, providers, and leaders in order to achieve optimal clinical and operational outcomes
  • Provides all customers of West Tennessee Healthcare with excellent service experience by consistently demonstrating WTH core and leader behaviors each and every day
  • Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops and completing all mandatory education
  • Strongly encouraged reviewing professional publications, establishing personal networks and in participating in professional societies
  • Interacts with all levels of staff in a variety of departments and facilities
  • Internal customers include all levels of Telehealth nursing management and staff, telehealth providers, and technical teams
  • External customers include patients and patient families, all levels of bedside nursing management and staff, medical staff, and all other members of the interdisciplinary health care team
  • Employee skilled communication when interacting with other health care providers in numerous settings in order to report and ask for or clarify information
  • Synthesizes and prioritizes data from multiple sources to provide support for the human response of the patient and family to changes in health status
  • Performs all functions according to established policies, procedures, regulatory and accreditation requirements, as well as applicable professional standards
  • Provides all customers of WTH with an excellent service experience by consistently demonstrating our core and leader behaviors each and every day
  • Communicates with patient and his/her family and collaborates with other disciplines for providing emotional support, teaching, and discharge planning
  • Assists in orientation of new personnel to unit and serves as a role model as required
  • Communicates information regarding patients and unit operation to other shifts and managers and uses proper channels of communication to other departments of the hospital
  • Performs related responsibilities as required or directed
Desired Qualifications
  • ACLS certification in non-critical care areas is preferred
  • Certification in area of clinical expertise desirable

Registration open for grief education series. JACKSON, TN. - West Tennessee Healthcare, in partnership with Butterfly's Embrace, will host a two day grief education series featuring nationally recognized grief counselor and best-selling author Dr. Alan D. Wolfelt. The series will begin on Thursday, April 30, 2026, with an evening community event titled Tending to Your Broken Heart: Hope for Your Healing. This free event will be held from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at Lighthouse Church in Jackson. Dinner will be provided, and while attendance is free, registration is required. On Friday, May 1, 2026, the series will continue with a full-day educational workshop, The Art of Companioning a Mourning Heart: Caring Versus Curing, from 9:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. at the J. Walter Barnes Conference Center at Jackson-Madison County General Hospital. This session is designed for healthcare professionals, caregivers, and others who support individuals experiencing grief. Continuing education credits will be available. Throughout both events, Dr. Wolfelt will share practical, compassionate approaches to understanding grief, helping attendees recognize the emotional, psychological, and social impact of loss while learning how to truly walk alongside those who are hurting. The sessions will also explore the important difference between "caring" and "curing," offering guidance on how to support others in meaningful and lasting ways.
