Requirements
  • As the ideal candidate for the Associate Scientist, Analytical Chemist role, you bring experience in analytical chemistry in industrial settings, having developed, validated and deployed diverse analytical services, preferably in high throughput scale
  • You have a demonstrated ability to evolve a process in response to changing technology and demands
Responsibilities
  • Carry out and improve analytical methods for strain analysis
  • Perform analytical instrumentation (LC, MS, GC, etc) troubleshooting and regular maintenance
  • Apply DOE approaches to refine and improve sample extraction and assay methods
  • Develop processes to verify and ensure low CV and high reproducibility for assay methods
  • Utilize Ginkgo's Software and Automation infrastructure to execute assays and strain tests
  • Collaborate with other Omics & Analytical Chemistry team members to standardize and improve the workflows
  • Collaborate with software engineers to ensure that all generated data is captured, stored, and analyzed in Ginkgo's LIMS
Desired Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Analytical Chemistry, Chemical Engineering or equivalent, and a minimum 3 years of experience with analytical chemistry method development and mass spectrometry, OR Master's degree in Chemistry, Analytical Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or equivalent, and a minimum of 2 years of experience with analytical chemistry method development and mass spectrometry
  • Familiarity with mass spectrometry related software or laboratory automation a plus
  • Experience with Thermo Fisher Scientific instrumentation and software is a plus
  • Experience working with biological and/or fermentation samples is a plus
