Requirements
  • M.D. or Doctor of Osteopathy from an accredited medical school; current California medical license and DEA certificate required.
  • Board Certified or Board Eligible in Family Medicine, Internal Medicine, or Pediatrics
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience providing primary care in a family or community health setting.
  • At least 1 year of leadership or supervisory experience in a healthcare setting (FQHC experience preferred).
  • Demonstrated ability to lead teams, mentor peers, and resolve conflicts constructively.
  • Knowledge of managed care, quality improvement, and regulatory compliance in healthcare settings.
  • Must be able to navigate electronic medical records and other related information technology systems efficiently with training.
  • Current BLS certification.
  • Must be able to work hybrid (some in-office, some remote) and travel among Marin clinics and to community partners as needed.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and trauma-informed care principles.
Responsibilities
  • Supervise, mentor, and coach all medical clinicians including physicians, advanced practice providers, and other licensed providers at the assigned clinical site to support the provision of excellent care and the ongoing professional development and sustainability of providers.
  • Ensure adherence by providers to Marin Community Clinics’ policies, procedures, clinical and operational workflows, and accepted standards of care and leads annual performance reviews for site medical providers.
  • Ensure that medical providers at the site are practicing within the scope of their specialty and within the bounds of their credentials and privileges and that Advanced Practice Providers at the site have required oversight and supervision.
  • Partner with the Site Clinic Manager to develop and implement strategic priorities, operational goals, and staffing models that optimize patient access, efficiency, and care quality at the site.
  • Lead the implementation of a comprehensive clinical quality, risk management and safety program at the site level, including analysis and response to all clinical incidents and complaints, clinical quality assessments and clinical performance tracking.
  • Monitor and ensure the competency and professional conduct of all medical providers at the site by implementing the components of the MCC Provider Credentialing and Privileging and Peer Review Policies and Procedures for providers at the clinical site.
  • Partner with the CMO and other senior leadership to ensure providers at the site remain compliant with the training, documentation, billing and practice requirements of HRSA, FTCA, CMS, the Joint Commission and other federal, state, and accrediting agencies.
  • Serve as the primary contact for all clinical matters at the site and represent the clinical site at internal leadership meetings and committees, and meetings with community-based partners.
  • Collaborate with and support the Site Clinic Manager, Nurse Supervisor(s) and other clinical operations leaders to ensure that operations workflows contribute to efficient, high-quality, patient-centered care at the site.
  • Collaborate with operational leadership on site budget priorities, equipment needs, and service-line modifications to best care for the patient population served by the site.
  • Lead regular provider and clinical staff meetings at the site, focused on clinical education, policy and procedure updates, compliance training and quality improvement/risk reduction initiatives.
  • Foster effective communication and collaboration among clinical and operational staff.
  • For Pediatrics - Opportunity to conduct pediatric inpatient hospital rounds at Marin General Hospital based on need and interest.
  • For Internal Medicine/Family Medicine - In addition to regularly scheduled shifts, it is required to be available to respond to after-hour calls regarding critical lab results for adult patients throughout the organization for a minimum of 2 weeks per year.
  • Actively participate in the recruitment, selection, and onboarding of medical providers and key clinical staff. Review applications, conduct interviews, and ensure timely and compliant HR processes.
  • Onboard, train and support continued development of staff.
  • Manage employee performance, effectively communicate expectations and goals and provide performance feedback and evaluation in a thorough and timely manner.
  • Complete time and attendance requirements for team, approving timesheets, time off requests, and ensure accurate and timely completion for payroll.
  • Ensure a safe, secure and legal work environment by upholding MCC’s policies and procedures.
Desired Qualifications
  • Bilingual (Spanish/English) strongly desired.
  • Experience with HRSA, FTCA, CMS, CDPH, DHCS, the Joint Commission desired.
  • Experience with EPIC electronic health record system desired.
  • 2 years of experience as a site medical director or similar leadership role preferred.
  • Prior experience in a Federally Qualified Health Center setting preferred.
