Requirements
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
- Relevant experience in metal inert gas (MIG) welding and the ability to pass an on-site MIG weld test.
- Ability to work as scheduled.
Responsibilities
- Perform machine welding and hand welding according to production needs.
- Perform welding in a fast-paced assembly-style environment.
- Perform MIG welding on multiple attachments, including brackets and tubing from 12 gauge to 0.179 inches.
- Pass the required American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) certification weld test, including a 6-inch vertical-down weld with full penetration on 0.094-inch material with a 0.052-inch gap, and produce welds without porosity, undercut, concavity, or other defects.
- Follow all safety regulations and encourage coworkers to follow them.
- Follow company policies and procedures and encourage coworkers to follow them.
- Read and interpret blueprints and welding process specifications.
- Perform gas metal arc welding and flux-cored arc welding.
- Assemble and MIG weld parts according to blueprints, drawings, and verbal instructions.
- Conduct quality inspections of completed work.
- Maintain welding equipment in good working condition and report maintenance and safety concerns.
- Perform repairs, modifications, and retrofits on production items.
- Provide data to assist with monitoring and tracking project status.
- Assist in training junior employees and inspect their work.
- Ensure the accuracy and completion of assigned tasks and projects.
- Sign off on completed work orders and quality of work.
- Maintain working knowledge of changes in technology, compliance requirements, and repair techniques.
- Participate in developing a lean manufacturing culture.
- Operate welding and non-welding equipment as assigned to meet customer demand.
