Responsibilities
  • Perform bldg. envelope assessments & investigations, (Review documents of conditions, incl. architectural drawings & construction docs , describing systems, products & details used in orig. construction & subsequent maintenance; Perform building condition field surveys; Document existing conditions of bldg. envelope systems & components & identify areas of possible fatigue & failure ( material damage, evidence of water, air or vapor intrusion, insufficient drainage, material incompatibility, construction means & methods & similar);; Conduct various in-situ tests, in accordance with industry standards ( AAMA & ASTM), using equipment & techniques to assess hidden conditions & identify/confirm areas of failure in bldg. envelope components; Communicate results from field survey, investigation, & testing through reports, drawings & oral presentation.)
  • Design for remediation on smaller scale projects: ((Develop conceptual remediation repair designs & options; assist w/ preparation of engineer's cost estimates for repairs; Identify areas for destructive testing in bldg. envelope assemblies to dvlp repair designs integrated w/ existing assemblies; Monitor the destructive testing & document existing conditions; Refine remediation design & dvlp repair construction docs incl. drawings (using AutoCAD, Revit, & BlueBeam) & technicalspecs ; Use 3D display tools (SketchUp, Revit & Rhinoceros 3D) to illustrate complex system integrations & sequencing; Assist in dvlpmt of repair mock-up extent & testing procedure, & observe testing to validate remediation design.)
  • Design for new construction on smaller scale projects: (Review design docs by architects, engineers, & other design professionals to understand project scope & design intent; Prepare written basis of design narrative identifying recommended bldg. envelope systems, components, & integration techniques, & identify relevant design performance criteria & preliminary values in coordination w/ bldg. code requirements & other project consultants; Coordinate computer modeling of hygrothermal analysis of specific bldg. envelope assemblies & assist in evaluation of the results; Review architectural design drawings & technical specs during the design process & provide review markups & recommendations, incl. sketches, to convey waterproofing, roofing, & flashing design intent.)
  • Construction administration support: (Attend preconstruction & construction coordination meetings & advise team on bldg. envelope issues; Review contractor submittals & RFIs based on construction docs & field conditions; Visit sites to observe bldg. envelope systems construction for compliance w/ construction docs s, & report on observations & recs; Inspect select waterproofing system installations, maintain & track outstanding installation items required for completion & certify final installation.)
  • Project mngmt for smaller scale projects: (Contact clients on behalf of principal re: various aspects of project incl. communication of complex technical info. , schedules, deliverables; Meet deliverables & scheduling requirements; Coordinate = staffing; Monitor budgets & review project invoices; Provide on-the-job training & mentoring to entry-level staff, incl. assigning & reviewing work, directing jobsite activities & sharing knowledge of bldg. envelope systems.)
