Requirements
  • Strong computer skills, including a solid background in AutoCAD.
  • Familiarity with the California Building Code, California Fire Code, California Mechanical Code, California Electrical Code/National Electrical Code, National Fire Protection Association 72, Unified Facilities Criteria codes, and city municipal codes as they pertain to fire alarm systems.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD, Microsoft Office, and Bluebeam.
  • Applicants must meet requirements related to background and driving record.
  • Regular, reliable, and predictable attendance is required.
Responsibilities
  • Design and/or draft fire life safety and other low-voltage shop drawings for multifamily, high-rise, military, and commercial buildings.
  • Work closely with project managers and account executives to complete accurate designs and prepare submittals in a timely and professional manner.
  • Manage and update electronic and physical engineering libraries, including job folders, equipment manuals, technical data sheets, brochures, and templates.
  • Apply company and National CAD Standards to shop drawings.
  • Resolve design problems through research of multiple alternatives.
  • Coordinate designs with other trades and building owners as needed to create a complete design.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, diagrams, submittals, specifications, schematics, and operational product manuals.
  • Identify out-of-scope work and design flaws by reviewing contract documents, proposals, plans, and specifications.
  • Identify and assist with suggested solutions for an efficient design.
  • Assist with design questions and concerns in a timely and professional manner.
  • Communicate project status to management.
  • Perform document control tasks, such as printing, downloading, and filing.
  • Perform take-offs, including counts on plans.
  • Complete required company paperwork.
  • Take initiative to complete projects.
Desired Qualifications
  • Industry-related NICET, RCDD, or similar certification is desired.
  • Excellent writing and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong organizational, multitasking, reliability, self-determination, and follow-up skills.
