Requirements
- A Bachelor of Science degree in Medical Technology or a relevant medical or scientific discipline is required.
- At least three years of clinical experience is required.
- Certification as a Medical Laboratory Scientist by the American Society for Clinical Pathology Board of Certification or an equivalent or relevant categorical certification is required.
- External candidates must complete Path and Lab ICCE Career Ladder requirements within 90 days in the position.
- Internal candidates must submit and meet Path and Lab ICCE Career Ladder requirements.
Responsibilities
- Perform diagnostic testing on patient samples to aid physicians in diagnosing and monitoring various disease states.
- Follow standardized procedures and help prepare samples for testing.
- Analyze test results for accuracy, acceptability, and critical limits.
- Perform complex genetic testing, including karyotyping and fluorescence in situ hybridization, to identify somatic and germline chromosomal abnormalities supporting patient diagnosis, prognosis, and treatment plans.
