Requirements
  • A high school diploma, GED, or equivalent is required.
  • Two to three years of experience in manufacturing leadership, coaching, development, and/or training is required.
  • Knowledge of and experience with automotive production and/or quality process management and improvement are required.
  • Experience with production planning, MSP, and reporting is required.
  • Experience applying control plans, administering controls, and improving operational efficiencies is required.
  • Ability to follow instructions, delegate, and interpret and enforce policies and procedures is required.
  • Familiarity with ADP, Attendance Counts, DMS, Beacon, Microsoft Suite, and Outlook is required.
  • Ability to work in a hot environment, lift varying weights, stand and walk for up to 12 hours per day, and wear required personal protective equipment is required.
Responsibilities
  • Ensure employees work safely while production and quality requirements are met.
  • Ensure employees receive training and understand safety requirements and procedures; enforce personal protective equipment requirements.
  • Conduct daily departmental safety spot checks.
  • Guide and manage the team to meet key performance indicators and other performance metrics.
  • Understand the scope, impacts, and intricacies of the on-shift production process.
  • Develop a culture of safety, quality, teamwork, accountability, and respect.
  • Coach, train, and develop team members.
  • Communicate expectations and ensure thorough onboarding of new employees, including understanding of safe operating procedures.
  • Ensure team compliance with safety guidelines, company standards, and production goals.
  • Contribute to team success and hold the team accountable for meeting key performance indicators and other objectives in a timely manner.
  • Identify opportunities for improvement by assessing control-point processes, variables, equipment, resources, efficiencies, methods, challenges, and strengths.
  • Gather, sort, analyze, and filter shift data and compile reports based on the results.
  • Ensure operational efficiencies, coordinate preventative maintenance and repairs with maintenance according to the production plan, address concerns quickly, and continuously evaluate equipment and processes.
  • Manage a safe and clean work environment.
  • Educate and direct team members on the use of control points, equipment, and resources while ensuring compliance.
  • Use critical thinking and problem-solving, leadership, and analytics methods to address challenges.
  • Work with the Supervisor, Environmental Health and Safety, Human Resources, Quality, and other groups to ensure compliance and report incidents or accidents immediately.
  • Use software systems to manage team schedules, hours, performance, and disciplinary actions; create reports; and perform safety and layered process audits.
  • Follow safety rules and guidelines and support a positive, steady workflow.
  • Support, coach, or mentor coworkers when needed and support organizational change.
