Requirements
  • Prepare weekly activity schedules, gather supplies, and be prepared to teach and engage children during Counselor Directed Activity times.
  • Lead children through activities and assist with presenting organized activities, theme activities, and devotions.
  • Adhere to and implement procedures for releasing children from the program to a parent or organized guardian.
  • Enforce behavior rules and procedures that maintain a fun and safe environment for campers.
  • Maintain positive relationships with staff, guests, children, and parents or guardians.
  • Work in a team environment and communicate daily with the Child Care Coordinator about concerns or issues involving the program, children, parents, and coworkers.
  • Assist with cleanup schedules and complete tasks on the daily cleanup list to maintain the cleanliness of the building and property.
  • Complete The Salvation Army KeepSAfe training and follow all KeepSAfe guidelines.
  • Support and affirm The Salvation Army mission while serving with The Salvation Army.
  • Be at least 21 years of age and have experience working with children.
  • Work a schedule that meets program staffing and planning needs.
  • Possess a valid Pennsylvania driver's license and be able to drive a 12-passenger van.
  • Provide proof within 30 days of employment of mandated-reporter training that meets Pennsylvania Act 153 of 2014 standards, with recurrent training every five years.
  • Complete the Pennsylvania Child Abuse History Clearance, Pennsylvania State Police Criminal Record Check, and FBI Criminal Record/Fingerprint Check.
  • Understand and appreciate The Salvation Army mission.
Responsibilities
  • Provide a safe, fun, and caring environment for children enrolled in the Summer Day Camp program.
  • Lead assigned groups of children through activities and implement program procedures.
  • Actively participate in activities while encouraging children.
  • Ensure staff and children respect the property and follow all rules and regulations.
  • Perform related duties as assigned.
