- A high school diploma or equivalent is required.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) Healthcare Provider certification is required.
- Successful completion of Medical Assistant training from an approved technical school, or at least one year of verifiable applicable work experience as a Certified Medical Assistant in a patient-care setting, is required.
- Current certification or registration as a Medical Assistant through an accepted certifying agency is required.
- No prior experience is required when the training pathway is completed.
- Assemble and apply different types of casts and various braces according to physician orders.
- Assist with transporting patients.
- Perform duties directly related to the orthopedic technician function.
- Assist orthopedic surgeons as requested.
- Participate in Quality Assurance and Quality Indicator activities as assigned.
- Perform patient rounds, charting, charging, regular equipment cleaning, and in-service education related to orthopedic technician services.
- Maintain regular, punctual attendance and comply with organizational policies and applicable standards.
