Requirements
  • Current student in an ARRT-recognized radiography program.
  • Current clinical student in an ARRT-recognized radiography program who has completed clinical competencies in chest, abdomen, and extremity categories.
  • Current Basic Life Support certification is required.
  • Ability to pull, push, and lift patients up to 300 pounds with assistance.
  • Ability to lift and move objects up to 30 pounds.
  • Ability to stand or walk for up to 8 hours per shift in 30-minute increments.
  • Frequent stooping, crouching, bending, and lifting the arms above shoulder level.
  • Hearing sufficient for normal conversation and vision sufficient for normal vision.
Responsibilities
  • Perform diagnostic radiographic services on patients under the supervision of a registered technologist while adhering to radiation-protection principles and evaluating technical quality.
  • Identify patients correctly and perform diagnostic radiographic procedures with appropriate patient care.
  • Ensure that equipment and supplies necessary for the assigned area are available for use.
  • Use the radiology information system and hospital information system modules appropriate to job responsibilities.
  • Follow downtime procedures to maintain the information required for continuity of patient care.
  • Maintain professional development through active participation in in-service and continuing-education programs.
  • Provide patients with educational information regarding their examinations.
  • Review the patient's condition, history, and other pertinent information before the proposed examination.
  • Ensure the quality of digital images sent to the picture archiving and communication system, verify the correct patient is selected from the worklist, and confirm the accuracy of medical-record information before transmission.
  • Provide patient education and personalized business cards, and send or provide apology cards when patient expectations are not met.
  • Maintain confidentiality of materials handled within the network and entity and properly release information.
  • Comply with network and departmental policies concerning employee, patient, and environmental safety and follow reporting requirements.
  • Demonstrate the network's service-excellence standards in interactions with internal and external customers.
  • Demonstrate performance improvement in clinical care and outcomes, customer and service improvement, operational systems and processes, and safety.
  • Use resources effectively and efficiently in daily procedures, processes, and practices.
  • Comply with network and departmental attendance and dress-code policies.
  • Demonstrate competency in assessing patients and providing treatment and communication appropriate to the age and development of each patient treated.
