Requirements
  • A degree or advanced degree in accounting is required, along with strong academic credentials.
  • A Certified Public Accountant license or another relevant certification such as Certified Information Systems Auditor is required.
  • Five years of post-college audit experience is required.
  • One to three years of audit experience in governmental, non-profit, or commercial sectors is required, including one year of public accounting experience.
  • Experience overseeing teams or holding a previous leadership position is required.
  • Well-rounded knowledge of accounting principles and knowledge of Generally Accepted Auditing Standards, Government Auditing Standards, and Generally Accepted Governmental Accounting Standards are required.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint, and accounting software programs is required.
  • Exceptional analytical and research skills are required.
  • Strong oral, written, and interpersonal skills are required.
  • Excellent time management, organizational, and attention-to-detail skills are required.
  • The ability to multitask, think independently, and solve problems in a team-oriented environment is required.

Responsibilities
  • Assist in carrying out quality and other assurance services for clients in various industries.
  • Demonstrate an understanding of accounting and auditing principles, internal control standards, and technology implementation relative to client assignments.
  • Maintain familiarity with pronouncements of the Governmental Accounting Standards Board, Financial Accounting Standards Board, and American Institute of Certified Public Accountants.
  • Participate in the engagement planning process.
  • Perform detailed audit procedures on financial statement account balances and prepare and adjust workpapers from clients' trial balances.
  • Execute day-to-day activities of audit engagements for multiple clients.
  • Recognize potential problem areas on engagements and discuss them with the engagement supervisor.
  • Research accounting issues.
  • Identify potential management letter comments.
  • Perform other accounting, auditing, and consulting duties as needed on engagements and as assigned by supervisory personnel.
  • Become proficient in preparing annual financial statements and footnote disclosures.
  • Develop and maintain working relationships with all levels of client staff to increase audit team efficiency and strengthen client relationships.
  • Become oriented with the firm's practices, policies, and culture.
  • Comply with and maintain professional standards, client confidentiality, and personal conduct.
