Responsibilities
  • Follow and apply all Health and Safety programs aligned with both BGIS and Client expectations to ensure safety of all employees and building occupants.
  • Work in collaboration with BGIS Health Safety and Environment Team Members for support and direction on key programs to emphasize Safety Culture.
  • Ensure compliance with corporate and legislated policies, procedures, practices and guidelines related to Environmental, Cultural and Natural Heritage Management by applying knowledge of legislation related to these areas.
  • Lead and instill a culture of safety and compliance throughout the team.
  • Follow the BGIS structured Hazard Observation Inspection program to ensure compliance with safety and regulatory requirements.
  • Supervise Team Members including directing activities, establishing goals and objectives, performance evaluation and communicating vision for Environmental, Cultural and Natural Heritage Management; supervise a small team of Specialists to support program implementation.
  • Actively participate and encourage Team Member Recognition Program to provide recognition to BGIS Team Members for Great Work.
  • Identify and nurture leadership potential within the Environmental, Cultural and Natural Heritage Management team and provide mentorship and coaching to Team Members to help them advance in their careers.
  • Collaborate with People and Culture Team Members to create career progression plans for staff and encourage their growth within the organization.
  • Lead and provide support to the client related to registration, permits and other associated requirements under applicable Environmental, Cultural and Natural Heritage related regulations.
  • Support Facility Management, Small Works and ARCW Team Members with Environmental Assessment screenings and implementations as required.
  • Support Facility Management, Small Works and ARCW Team Members with awareness and management (as needed) of contaminated sites.
  • Develop and update process and related documents to support effective delivery of services.
  • Ensure the Environmental, Cultural and Natural Heritage Program provides a holistic approach to services for heritage buildings, landscapes and associated infrastructure, including coordination among specialized architectural, engineering, landscape architecture, technical and historic material conservation services.
  • Ensure that Team Members are familiar with requirements for managing heritage buildings and Environmental, Cultural and Natural Heritage properties.
  • Work in collaboration with Asset Management Team Members to provide input in key Capital Planning Process.
  • Work in collaboration with Central Work Order Management Team Members on any Environmental, Cultural and Natural Heritage related work orders.
  • Attend sites as required to support implementation of the Environmental, Cultural and Natural Heritage Program.
  • Conduct and assist with audits as required and identify opportunities for synergies with other BGIS Teams conducting site visits.
  • Prioritize and support the resolution of issues identified during inspections.
  • Support Facility Management Team Members to ensure that Environmental, Cultural and Natural Heritage aspects are managed on site to enhance occupant experience.
  • Support Facility Management Team Members with facility and property related Environmental, Cultural and Natural Heritage questions and challenges.
  • Maintain clear and proactive communication channels with all concerned parties.
  • Ensure proactive escalation processes for addressing Environmental, Cultural and Natural Heritage challenges.
  • Provide timely updates on operational status, projects, and issue resolutions.
  • Foster transparency and open dialogue to facilitate effective decision-making.
  • Be the designated single point of contact to provide oversight of the Environmental, Cultural and Natural Heritage Program and to be the primary contact person, when requested, to act as liaison with IO’s Environmental, Cultural and Natural Heritage contacts.
  • Collaboration with BGIS Self Perform Team Members delivering Best Quality Services to Buildings.
  • Establish regular communication and relationships to support delivery of service respecting Environmental, Cultural and Natural Heritage aspects.
  • Work in collaboration with BGIS Team Members in Janitorial, Project Management and Technical Services or any other areas where work is directly performed by BGIS to ensure compliance with Environmental, Cultural and Natural Heritage aspects.
  • Collaborate with BGIS Strategic Sourcing and Vendor Management Leadership Team Members to ensure Environmental, Cultural and Natural Heritage considerations are included in vendor management.
  • Establish and maintain relationships with vendors and service providers.
  • Monitor and communicate vendor performance and compliance with contractual obligations.
  • Manage vendor relationships to optimize service delivery and efficiency.
  • Review and provide feedback on reports received related to Environmental, Cultural and Natural Heritage Management.
  • Ensure that services for designated heritage assets respect and conserve heritage character, meet related obligations.
