Requirements
  • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing or have an education equivalency for licensing.
  • Hold Basic Life Support HealthCare Provider certification from the American Heart Association.
  • Hold a Registered Nurse license issued by the Missouri Division of Professional Registration or a Registered Nurse license issued by a compact state.
  • Meet the stated physical requirements, including standing and walking, lifting and carrying objects, patient movement, keyboard use and data entry, and sensory abilities needed for patient care.
Responsibilities
  • Complete admitting and shift assessments on assigned patients, including behaviors, accurately and within the timeframe established by policy and procedures.
  • Use critical thinking skills and judgment to analyze patient assessment data and notify the physician of changes in condition.
  • Participate in the development, review, and evaluation of multidisciplinary treatment plans according to policies and procedures.
  • Document all nursing care provided and adhere to nursing standards and ministry policies and procedures.
  • Implement and accurately record physician orders.
  • Assess and monitor patients and the environment for safety within the unit.
  • Serve as a clinical resource and supervise care delivered by LPNs and technicians.
  • Educate patients and families based on assessed needs and document the education provided in the Electronic Health Record.
  • Apply evidence-based practice and scientific knowledge in healthcare to nursing practice, ensuring care is based on patients' age-specific and clinical needs described in the department's Scope of Service.
  • Demonstrate the professional nursing standards defined in the professional practice model and use the American Nurses Association Code of Ethics for Nurses to guide responses to patients' current and evolving needs.
  • Work in a constant state of alertness and in a safe manner.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
