The First American Summer Internship Program is a full-time, 10 to 12 week paid program starting in early June 2023. Come expereince working at First American’s Corporate Headquarters in this Hybrid opportunity!
The intern will work in a program designed to help college students gain experience and develop the technology, professional and interpersonal skills to use throughout their career. First American Interns work in a corporate environment within the Financial/Title Industry—balanced with intern-specific activities, executive level presentations and networking opportunities—while under the close supervision and guidance of a manager and/or mentor. Undergraduate students are assigned significant work assignments to support a specific business function within Accounting and Finance.
Job Description:
The intern will get an overview of the daily, weekly and monthly processes, tasks and structure of a corporate accounting department in a publicly traded company. The intern is required to maintain the integrity of accounting information and systems, review processes to comply with standards and rules under GAAP, as well as other regulating bodies.
Some tasks include: reconciliations, analyzes and synthesizes financial data from business operations.
Active role in preparation of public financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, SEC filings and other regulatory reports.
Evaluate or support the evaluation of company and regional profitability, efficiency and product performance.
May evaluate the effects of changes in accounting regulations on the Company’s financial statements and accounting controls.
Executes accounting policy and procedures and participates in internal and external audits, including Sarbanes Oxley Act compliance.
Job Qualifications:
We are seeking College/University students enrolled in Accounting Bachelor’s degree programs with 0-2 years’ of work experience.
To qualify, candidates will possess the following:
Proficiency in MS Office Suite applications. Accounting internship will require strength in MS Excel.
An interest and willingness to learn about Accounting in Mortgage, Real Estate, Financial, or Title Insurance Industries.
The ability to solve problems, be detailed oriented and be conscientious about all work completed.
An ingrained concern for the customer and representing our Company in the best professional manner as possible.
The potential to excel in the following competencies: Communication, Customer Focus, Ethics & Integrity, Teamwork & Adaptability, Productivity & Initiative.
Outstanding interpersonal skills.
Typical Education:
Pay Range: $18.00 - $22.00 hourly
This hiring range is a reasonable estimate of the base pay range for this position at the time of posting. Pay is based on a number of factors which may include job-related knowledge, skills, experience, business requirements and geographic location.
