Requirements
  • Graduated with a Bachelor's degree within the last two years and achieved a minimum GPA of 3.4.

Responsibilities
  • Learn and apply financial spreading across different tiers.
  • Assist in evaluating credit applications by analyzing financial statements, credit reports, and other relevant data to assess risk and creditworthiness.
  • Prepare preliminary underwriting documents and structure loan proposals.
  • Assist with monitoring and managing assigned client portfolios by tracking loan performance, identifying potential risks, and recommending solutions to maintain portfolio health.
  • Conduct periodic reviews of client accounts to ensure alignment with financial goals and bank standards.
  • Facilitate the loan origination process by gathering and verifying client documentation and ensuring compliance with bank policies and regulatory requirements.
  • Learn from internal teams to streamline loan approvals and closings.
  • Build and maintain relationships with Retail, Small Business Banking, Business Banking, Middle Market, and Commercial clients by addressing inquiries, providing tailored financial solutions, and ensuring high-quality service.
  • Collaborate with sales partners to identify and pursue new commercial banking business opportunities, including prospecting for potential clients.
  • Assist in preparing presentations and proposals to attract new clients and expand market presence.
  • Participate in cross-functional projects involving product development, process improvements, and market analysis.
  • Engage with business line leaders to understand strategic priorities and contribute to team initiatives.
  • Complete compliance courses prescribed for the job function.
  • Participate in training to develop technical skills in financial analysis, credit risk assessment, and treasury services.
  • Build product knowledge in commercial term loans, lines of credit, cash management, owner-occupied and investment real estate loans, and SBA-guaranteed loans.
  • Attend leadership training.
  • Support commercial banking sales efforts by preparing client pitches and identifying cross-selling opportunities for treasury services and other banking products.
  • Progress or transition to the Commercial Portfolio Analyst role for six to eighteen months after successfully completing the program.

SouthState Bank launches government contractor banking vertical, hires former MartinFed CEO

SouthState Bank has launched a Government Contractor Banking vertical and appointed David Mathis as director to lead the initiative. Mathis brings nearly a decade of experience from MartinFederal Consulting, where he served as CEO before successfully selling the company this year. He also has 25 years of commercial banking experience focused on the government contracting industry. The new vertical will support companies working with federal agencies across SouthState's nine-state footprint, offering services including financing, treasury management, capital markets and mergers and acquisitions advice. SouthState president Richard Murray noted the bank's presence in regions with military bases and operations supporting NASA, the Department of Justice and the Department of Energy.

SouthState Bank raises dividend 10%, reports $230M Q2 net income with 11% loan growth

SouthState Bank Corporation reported second quarter 2026 results with net income of $230 million and diluted earnings per share of $2.35, up 11% year over year. The bank's chief executive officer, John C. Corbett, highlighted solid loan growth, stable net interest margin, and improved asset quality. Loans increased by $1.4 billion, or 11% annualised, compared to the prior quarter, whilst deposits grew by $474 million, or 3% annualised. Net interest income reached $576 million, up $14 million from the previous quarter. Net charge-offs totalled $8 million, or 0.06% of average loans. The board of directors increased the quarterly cash dividend from $0.60 to $0.66 per share, payable on 14 August 2026. Tangible book value per share rose to $58.72, representing a 13% year-over-year increase.

UMB Financial tops regional banks in Q1 as SouthState misses revenue estimates
