Requirements
  • The candidate must have a PhD in the social sciences with an emphasis on communications, education, diffusion of innovations, or extension education by the anticipated start date.
  • The candidate must demonstrate excellent organization and project management skills.
  • The candidate must demonstrate excellent written and oral communication skills.
Responsibilities
  • The postdoctoral scholar will conduct in-depth qualitative and quantitative data collection with Texas agricultural stakeholders, Extension agents, agricultural input suppliers, crop consultants, recycling facility representatives, consumers, and other public stakeholders.
  • The postdoctoral scholar will analyze quantitative and qualitative data.
  • The postdoctoral scholar will prepare manuscripts for peer-reviewed journals.
  • The postdoctoral scholar will prepare and deliver oral presentations to diverse audiences.
  • The postdoctoral scholar will help oversee the activities of the Science Communications Team.
Desired Qualifications
  • The candidate should have a theoretical background in science communications, agricultural communications, agricultural education, or extension education.
  • The candidate should have skills in experimental and survey methods and text analysis.
  • The candidate should have experience conducting quantitative data analysis, including univariate and multivariate statistics, fieldwork, and outreach to agricultural audiences.
  • The candidate should have experience with SPSS, MAXQDA, Amos, LISREL, PLS, R, or similar programs.
  • The candidate should be familiar with agricultural and natural resource contexts.
  • The candidate should be able to multitask and work with diverse and interdisciplinary teams.
  • The candidate should have a strong publication record.
  • The candidate should have experience with qualitative and quantitative data collection and analysis.
  • The candidate should have experience with quantitative survey data analysis.
  • The candidate should be willing to travel throughout Texas for project meetings and conferences.
  • The candidate should be able to work independently and with an interdisciplinary team of researchers, Extension specialists, and other project participants.
  • The candidate should have an interest in agriculture, diffusion of innovations, the environment, or sustainable agriculture.
