  • A high school diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Nitrous Oxide certification is required upon hire or within nine months of the hire date.
  • Basic Life Support certification is required upon hire or within six months of the hire date.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of the rationale for appropriate patient care is required.
  • Computer literacy and proficiency with the organization's electronic health record are required.
  • The ability to handle emergency situations calmly and effectively is required.
  • The ability to maintain patient confidentiality in accordance with organizational policy and HIPAA requirements is required.
Responsibilities
  • Prepare the primary clinic and maintain adequate clinic supplies for patient treatment according to clinical protocols and the Dentist's or Dental Hygienist's direction.
  • Anticipate the sequence of dental procedures and prepare in advance so the Dentist can work efficiently.
  • Review patients' health histories, document information, and demonstrate proper charting in the electronic dental record.
  • Maintain a sterile and neat working environment and observe universal precautions at all times.
  • Perform expanded duties delegated by the Dentist and serve as the chair-side assistant to the Dentist and Dental Hygienist.
  • Support assigned dental outreach activities.
  • Assist the Dentist and Dental Hygienist in the direct provision of primary care dental services.
  • Sterilize, prepare, and maintain inventory control of dental instruments and supplies.
  • Provide training to students and new hires when assigned.
  • Maintain patient confidentiality in accordance with CHC policies and HIPAA regulations.
Desired Qualifications
  • Graduation from a Dental Assisting Program is preferred.
  • Certified Dental Assistant status is preferred.
