Requirements
  • Knowledge of lubrication systems, fuel systems, hydraulic systems, and preventative maintenance practices.
  • Ability to identify mechanical problems and communicate them effectively.
  • A valid driver's license is required.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
  • Ability to frequently lift and carry up to 50 pounds and climb, crawl, kneel, bend, and work around heavy equipment.
  • Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions and stand and walk for extended periods.
  • Ability to work extended hours, weekends, emergency repair calls, and travel as project needs require.
  • Compliance with company, OSHA, DOT, and project-specific safety requirements.
  • Use of required personal protective equipment and participation in safety training programs.
Responsibilities
  • Perform daily fueling, greasing, and lubrication of heavy construction equipment.
  • Conduct pre-operation and post-operation equipment inspections.
  • Check and maintain engine oil, hydraulic oil, coolant, transmission fluid, and fuel levels.
  • Inspect equipment for leaks, excessive wear, damage, and potential safety hazards.
  • Report mechanical issues and maintenance needs to equipment managers and mechanics.
  • Assist field mechanics with repairs and preventative maintenance activities.
  • Maintain accurate service records and equipment inspection documentation.
  • Operate service trucks equipped with fueling, lubrication, and maintenance tools.
  • Monitor tire, track, and undercarriage conditions.
  • Keep equipment clean and ensure machines are properly parked and secured.
  • Maintain inventory of fuel, lubricants, filters, and service supplies.
  • Support equipment mobilization and setup as needed.
  • Participate in daily safety meetings and toolbox talks.
  • Immediately report unsafe conditions, accidents, or equipment defects.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Desired Qualifications
  • A high school diploma or GED is preferred.
  • Experience servicing heavy construction equipment is preferred.
  • A commercial driver's license is preferred.
  • Basic computer or mobile device skills for maintenance reporting are preferred.
  • One to three years of heavy highway or civil construction equipment maintenance experience is preferred.
  • Experience working with Caterpillar, Deere, or similar construction equipment is preferred.
  • Knowledge of preventative maintenance scheduling and equipment inspection programs is preferred.
