Requirements
  • Provide individual patient assessments as ordered by a physician.
  • Have knowledge of occupational therapy practices gained through an accredited program.
  • Be oriented and educated in gender-, cultural-, and age-appropriate care for the assigned unit.
  • Adhere to Occupational Therapy Standards of Practice, the Occupational Therapy Code of Ethics, and facility policies and procedures.
  • Graduate from an accredited school of Occupational Therapy.
  • Be certified as an Occupational Therapist and hold current licensure as an Occupational Therapist, Registered in Minnesota.
  • Effectively communicate in written and verbal form.
  • Shift smoothly and rapidly between dissimilar tasks.
  • React quickly and calmly as part of a team when handling volatile and potentially emergency situations.
  • Make effective decisions in stressful situations and circumstances.
  • After training, manage disruptive and explosive patients.
Responsibilities
  • Implement client-centered and interactive Occupational Therapy services.
  • Assess, plan, implement, evaluate, and supervise occupational care of patients within the assigned area.
  • Work primarily with adults and provide some services to children and adolescents.
  • Provide supervision as needed for Occupational Therapy Assistants and Level I and II Occupational Therapy students.
Desired Qualifications
  • Level II fieldwork experience in psychosocial Occupational Therapy is strongly preferred for newly graduated candidates.
